Title: noob question
Post by: Marv on December 12, 2003, 09:33:23 am
pardon my ignorance.

I have a question about how to get fs2 up and running.

I am a bit confused by the readme that comes with the vp file folders from the ftp site.  It says I should remove all the files from the listed directories and subdirectories.  Do I replace them with anything, or just putting the new .vp files in the main directory is enough?

thanks for your time

Just delete the files in the directories like the readme says. You don't replace them with anything, as the content is in the VP files.

You put all the vp files in your fs2 root directory.

Cheers!

oh yeah and

thanks mate!

One more question.  How do I update to FS2 1.2?  I tried using the update .exe file from the website, but I get an error.  Do I have to update it before I remove the files from those directories?

The message I get when I try to run the update from freespace2.exe is

"Original fs2.exe contents do not match, update aborted.  Reinstalling may be necessary."

Download + install from the launcher. Also, delete any mods you have before updating.

He's using the HotU version UT. You can get the exe's you need from the FTP I believe. I suspect that it won't update cause the root.vp is already the 1.2 version.

If you have any more questions about the HOTU version check my FAQ.
