ok, the other day I had an idea on a whole new means by wich to make the old damage decals work, it isn't quite perfict, but it is working better than it ever has
play (http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/blackwater/fs2_open_d2.zip)

still have to test, but....
why I see the graphic effect of virtual shields closer than before?:)
-
oh, and it only works in d3d htl mode
-
Whee, that was fun:
- the game does not use any UV maps any more causing the textures to be completely misaligned and ships to be transparent in some parts
- I have no control over flight speed anymore (i'm flying at maximum thrust all the time)
- The game will not accept any primary weapons anymore.
- I don't see any slightest thing that'd have to do with what youre talking about
:)
-
HT&L doesn't seem to make a difference either, nothing happens :)
-
totaly forked?
I notised the thrust problem, I thought it was just a problem with my stick becase it just started to happen for no reason...
at what point does the UV get screwed up? imediately or after some time of playing
the primary weapon thing is that in the loadout screen? or what do you mean?
-
no primary weapon will be there - its always set to
the UV map is always messed up. If you look at the ulysses it has a transparent cockpit and the cockpit is somewhere on the left wing. The medusa has its missile pods on the back of its wings. The Zeus consists of 2 wings and an invisible hull. The fenris has a white triangle on its back and invisible dots all over.

thats the exact same problem i had when i tryed to run bobs n-patchs build on my radeon 9k......
-
hmm... that's not happening on my machine, could you post a pic
-
Weapons work somehow now... weird.
Well, this is what it looks like :)
I use a Radeon 9800.
-
Ugh...
-
as, do I, are you useing the -PCX32 (or whatever) comand line?
actualy, just tell me what comand lines you are useing
-
Got the speed problem as well, though I got graphics in game :)
Flipside :D

*growls* we're suppose to be under code freeze
-
*hugs Bob* I love you :D
Hehe, I'm not gay, but I've REALLY been wanting this for awhile! Will test when I get home! :D

Bah, whatever. Just as long as he doesn't commit it and fill the CVS with bugs, or include it in any latest builds.

*growls also*
Bobboau, as cool as this is, we're really supposed to be focusing on bugs. If we keep adding bugs as fast as we remove them, we'll never get 3.6 released. :sigh:
-
neither this nor the n-patch test, will be included in 3.6
-
But it's where we're concentrating our effort. If you're adding new features, even if you're not CVSing them, you're spending effort that could otherwise be put to use tracking down bugs.
Believe me, I want to add stuff too, but I'm trying to focus on getting bugs squashed so we can get the freeze lifted. If I start adding stuff I'll get distracted, so I just make notes to myself.
-
I just had a thought 'hey, I could use texture clamping, and just copy the polies directly', so while I had the idea fresh I spent four hours implementing it
-
Well Goober, you gotta agree that everyone wants to get bugs sorted out, but we also want to be seeing new stuff... even if it is from only one of the programmers. And that would be Bob!!
-
and 3.6 needs new multi code anyway :D
-
So bob.. could you describe the intended effect for us?
-
you know damage decals, you shoot a ship it leaves a scorch mark
-
I saw those marks on the ships, it looked pretty good, if a tiny bit wierd, but then it was a WIP :)
-
Screenshots would be nice :)
