You can have this if you want it. I cannot texture for my life. I wasted all my free time today on the blasted thing. It needs to be converted and everything, something else I have a terrible time doing. I can mod capital ships alright, but when it comes to fighters.... mesh only. Anyway, here it is.

Edit: It has a rudimentry texture map, I've isolated the cannons and cockpit, everything is seperated according to a box map, sides as mirrors. I just cannot create textures.
I was also planning for two cannons out the nose.

Sure thing. I posted the link in the original message. Anything else you want, just ask. Have fun!

Looks like a cross between a viper and a herc? If ok I dl'ed it and will play a round alittle, will post if I think I've stumbled onto a cool scheme... L8tr

Zeus would rock, and I ws trying it, but I realized how much I hate UV mapping things like this again.

That's far nicer than any of the capships you've done Beowulf. In fact I think it's the best thing I've seen from you. Unless the capships were done long before this ship maybe you should stick to fighters and bombers for a while cause you seem to be much better at them:D
The poly count will be reasonably low if the triangulation is removed so you might want to consider remodelling the guns so they look a little less like tubes and more like actual weapons.
Apart from that I really can't fault it.

nice.
but add some intakes

Kewl. :)

Why would it need intakes in space? It doesn't look like it would be capable of atmospheric flight so they would be a bit redundant.
-
Those are not intakes on FS ships - more likely heat thinks.
-
then why you need wings or fins on starfighter?
why you even need a cockpit?
and why the hell there isn't a full realistic inertial system in fs2?
-
texturing it....

1) for weapon or thruster points to keep them away from the main body of the ship.
2) for the pilot to have somewhere comfy to sit.
3) because it's too difficult to code?

1) Not that any FS/FS2 ship uses them that way, but heh
2) he means the windows part, the canopy, I suppose
3) the "V" people where not that bad, you know ( well I hope )
-
what I meant is that you are complaining about a small particular being not realistic, when you already are in alice in wonderland;)

looking at the thread about the turrets, makes me wonder, actually.

I like things to be kept as realistic as possible. Just because the stuff out there already is unrealistic (apologies to anyone that has made real looking ships) doesn't mean we have to keep making new ships look unrealistic.
-
then you look for ships as realistic as possible in a Sci-Fi space sim.........
mmmm....
btw...
this doesn't change that engine intakes or alternatively the holes of a warehead launcher instead of those flat blue polys (it depends by what they are intended for in his original idea), will make the model looking better....wich is almost the only important thing;)
-
Well I don't know about you but I find it difficult to suspend my disbelief when playing a space sim if I am too busy going "what the hell is that thing doing on there, it looks rediculous!" But I guess you have no problem with that. Which is fair enough. Doesn't work for me though.

Texture at 7%

Wow. Cool. Good luck!

20%
Done so far:
Engine (75%)
Missle banks
Cock pit

Sweet, this promising mesh is getting skinned. On ya, Krackers. :)
