Title: 158th Hiring
Post by: LtNarol on December 17, 2003, 12:57:59 pm
Alright folks, I don't have much time so I'll cut to the chase: we're in dire need of additional Fredders and artists - rendering artists, photoshop pros, and of course the good old 3D modelers.  We've got a lot planned and a good start on most of it, but we need more help if we're gonna release everything within the next couple of years.

Sign up if you're interested.

Any mission which you think demonstrates your skills as a fredder.

Oh, about that. I'm finally on winter break and feeling rather inspired, so there's a good possibility that something will happen. :)

If not, I'll really look stupid for mentioning it outloud, eh?

Righty-ho, I've got loads of free time and little to do, so this afternoon I taught myself to FRED. Surprisingly easy, isn't it?
So, have a sample. I got bored with convoy escorts, so I made a convoy raid. It's not the easiest of missions to play, but then where would be the fun if you could just go in guns blazing and expect to win? (Hint: Take out the beams facing into the convoy on the escort, and use your wingmates to draw the beams while you do so)
http://nodewar.penguinbomb.com/aotd/Odyssey/158sample.zip
Hope you like it.

EDIT: I can also do rendering, photoshopping, playtesting, modelling, POF'ing, table-ing, and even the occasional texture job. Just so long as you don't give me everything to do ^_^

The mission is quite good, especially since you've just started fredding. However, the mission does lack directives, waves and randomised warp-in locations for the hostile fighters.

Anyone else interested?
Remember, we aren't just looking for fredders.

Directives? Oh, crap! I knew there was something I'd forgotten to add.
The Utei warps in randomly, I just kept the fighters in fixed positions and non-waves because it gave me more control over how long it would take to get rid of them (roughly the same time as it takes for the Utei to complete its job, 1min40s).
Remember I can do all those other things I mentioned, if that'd help :)

Here we go, zip updated:
http://nodewar.penguinbomb.com/aotd/Odyssey/158sample.zip
Directives added (sorry about that, dumb omission), a few small changes made, and enemy fighters now warp in 1000m from the Goert in a random position. No waves still, but that's a designer decision ^_^

Why thankyou. I think I've got all the miscellaneous modelling, correcting, etc. done for other projects at the moment, so if you give me something to do I can start right away.
