Ok... I've no idea how this one happened - but happened it has. I've gotten hold of the "BackDoor-AMQ" Virus as identified by McAffees online virus scanner. Trouble is I have no anti-virus software installed at the moment and nothing up to date to combat the problem. Does anyone have detailed instructions of removing the virus (or suggestions for a good program to do the job - the cheaper the better).
And yeah, I will be looking into firewall and anti-virus software in the near future. Just incase anyone was thinking of reminding me ;)

Norton Anti-Virus '04 is the latest version. It'll set you back about $50 though
-
You sure that's the name of the virus? I can't find any referenecs to it at all on either Symantec or McAffee's site.
-
Yeah, that's what the search came up with...
-
Bump... It hasn't gone away yet unfortunately...

When in doubt, Google (http://www.google.com/search?q=BackDoor-AMQ)!

Whenever I get viruses, I get some virus cleaner disk from the company I got my computer from. Perhaps you could do the same???
-
Good idea, but the software at my company isn't available to employees. They actually have a very good software security system in place that means it's very hard to get a virus in there in the first place (not that I've tried - but the system implies it is). Therefore you'd have to be a determined hacker to attack it - not just a random virus spreading around.
On top of that, I'm just not important enough ;)

Have you tried the link I posted? You don't have to ignore me, you know.
-
Who said that? :p
Actually I did... funny thing, it hasn't found the virus. I'm going to rescan with both the online and AVG when I get a chance and see how I go - but thats very much for posting it

Meh. That'll have to do.
