Does anyone know offhand, of any missions during a major canon or fanbrew campaign which took place in Alpha Centauri? I was planning on making a new campaign, and some of the action would be in Alpha Centauri but I wanted to have a backdrop consistent with other campaigns. And it's also a hell of a lot easier for me to do the background that way too.
I don't think there's any in the main FS2 campaign, but I don't want to go searching through derelict, warzone and what have you for some indication that the mission took place in Alpha Centauri.

Don't bother starting a new campaign now. In all likelyhood you'll never get it finished. Your efforts would be much better spent FREDing for an existing campaign...

Blaisse started Homesick a few months ago....stop being a pessimist.
Go ahead and do whatever the hell you want Akalabeth.
I can't recall any missions in Alpha Centauri except some in fs1. Try grabbing the background from the Port. It's the mission where you first get the Hornet I think.:)

Yeah....but.....
I'm simply saying that there is little to no point in starting a large project now. Some of the most fabled and oldest projects are simply crying out for decent FREDers. I think it would be a lot better in helping out one of those projects than churning out something of the quality of Homesick (dont flame me!)

He never said he was going to be starting a big project. he said he was starting a new campaign. It could be a small campaign, or a big campaign. If he has the time and the willpower, what is stopping him from making another Derelict sized campaign?

Actually, I've sent in some missions to the Terran-Vasudan War campaign in an offer to FRED but they've never gotten around to looking at them (they were just the missions I had in my three mission demo for uh, "valley of death" or whatever I was gonna do), I've also playtested for Hippo's All Hands to War and provided grammatical/spelling corrections (many of which didn't reach the demo release apparently). So if I were to apply for yet another campaign, I think I'd be stretching my resources pretty thin. Especially considering all of the other things I doddle in, including providing content for and editing a monthly electronic newsletter.
My campaign was going to be hopefully pretty big actually. Around the size of derelict, I have a lot of good ideas but they're probably not as fun to actually implement. I'm also limiting myself to using pre-existing MODs so that will cut down development time a lot and basically means all I would be doing is fredding. I've already got the basic story line set-up, with a few major plot twists but it still needs a lot of detail and most of all resolution of some sort.

Right now we're so desperate for FREDers, you don't really need a demo mission to join TVWP. Ask Goober about internal access and an avatar, then start FREDing.:D

It was my understanding that each applicant was to submit a mission or two for evaluation to see whether they'd be worth taking on for the project and so on and so forth. So that's why I had sent those missions in. The missions, admittely aren't the greatest as in some ways they are too scripted (predictable warp in locations for enemy fighters, unprotected bombers, etcetera) but I think for a first three missions they're alright.

That's more or less how it works. However, your emails came at a particularly busy time in this particularly busy semester and as such slipped under the radar. :nervous: I'll try them out and get back to you ASAP.

I sent a mission (slightly buggy I admit) awhile ago too.

I would like to see some more mini campaigns they can be just as fun as large once.
