Title: Sonic™ Boom
Post by: an0n on December 21, 2003, 12:48:49 pm
It's the opening movie of one of the later Sonic games. Go find it on KaZaA.

It kicks so much ass.

That is all.

it's the opening for sonic CD, one of the better games for the old Sega CD (the extention for the old Gennissis console) as I recal it was defanantly the coolest of the old side scroleing sonci cames in terms of feel and sound (I listened to the music from all the time frames of all the levels forever), the game I think is older than I think 9 years old, it came out before Sonic 3 I'm positive (sonic3 and the S&K expantion (the only expantion pack for a console I've ever heard of) was the best of the seres in terms of gameplay and fun)
if you'v never played it, it does feel a bit off, as rather than trying to get the chaios emralds you are after the time stones on some moon that Robotnik is also trying to get (duh) as you play the game you get many opertunitys to travle back and forth in time and the levels change acordingly, if you take out the right targets in the past then the future of that level will be diferent, there is a similar effect from gathering all the stones, this was one of my all time favorite games largly from the music in the levels (though there was a lot of extreemly cool graphics)

I recomend you get your emulators running and find your self a copy, though it would likely be a 600mb DL (so you'r not likely to find it)

the ending sequence(s) were also very cool

sonic CD was just before 3, it was the first showing of 'metal sonic' not to be confused with 'silver sonic' (of sonic 2, though it seems likely that they would hav been releated in development somehow) it is also the game with the pink hegehog that was suposed to be princes sally, though I've seen many diferent charicters called princes sally,
metal sonic was cool, too bad he didn't get more game time :(
I would have enjoyed beating the crap out of him.

Never played Sonic games except one demo, can't remember which game though. Possibly Sonic CD / Boom or whatever the name is. It was year 1995 or '96 when I was watching this particular video over and over again because of it's great music. By any change, do you have more Sonic music?

Edit: Looks like the site mentioned above has some...

I have seen Wal-Mart selling a bundled software pack that contains just about all the sonic games released on the old gneisses and Sega CD system as well as a few of Sega’s other games remade for the PC selling at about $20.

Sonic games are great. Superb and fast entertainment. I'd like to try the new Sonic Adventure games badly...

...the Sonic SatAM series... I don't live in US so I didn't see it when it came but with other methods I was able to watch it. I liked it ^^

Woo-hoo!  Found Sonic CD!  I'm fairly sure this is abandon-ware.  It's ancient.  Oo;  If not, mods can delete the link, but this game was insanely hard to find.  You'll need the Gens emulator to play it, and possibly some bios files as well.  http://abandoniso.jewis.org/sega%20cd/soniccd(e)/soniccd(e).htm

EDIT: Bothersome auto-tag.

I have Sonic CD for Sega CD.  The CD itself is ok but the Sega CD broke down a while back.  I know some genesis emulators can play sega cd games if you have an ISO for them.  I'll look into how much trouble that will be since i don't know much about burning CDs.  Would this even be legal?

Post by: Bobboau on December 22, 2003, 07:11:22 pm
I have an enulator that is suposedly capable of playing segaCDs, but no this isn't legal, but then again nobody is going to care, this game is like a decade old.

I can think of at least two others off the top of my head: That 60s Britain one for the original Grand Theft Auto and those VR Special Missions for Metal Gear Solid. Both were, AFAIK, tethered to the original game they wouldn't work independently.

I remember there being two sonic cartoons when I was in  fith(?) grade, one of them was a realy stupid cartoony cartoon that had virtualy nothing to do with the game, the other was a relitivly[b/] dark and action oriented one that had little to do with the game, I prefered the second one, but I don't think it made it past the first or second season, it was the one ABC had on saturday mornings (as I recal it was given the 'you must REALY want to watch this' time slot of 5 or 6 am, there were a bunch of cartoons that were given that slot moved around a lot in there too, so yo had to wake an hour or two early to make sure you never missed it). does anyone know how far that serese made it, I saw it in sindication on USA a few years later and saw what I am assuming was the finaly were robotnick made some big giant dooms day decive of DOOM useing some rock he found but sonic turned it around on him and destroyed it and presumably robotnic himself, at the end of the eppisode it had a ending were robotnicks little bald sidekick (don't know were he came from) seemed to have some ace in the hole that he was going to unleash in the next season, but I never saw any more after that

That cartoon kicked ass.  Sadly, the SatAM cartoon only had two seasons.  A third was planned, but with some management changes high up in ABC, the show was cancelled.

it's if you get caut uploading to Kazza, and the odds are one in a million (litteraly they have suplied 300 supeanas, there are 300 million people useing Kazza at any given moment) and only if you live in the USA (this disqualifies an0n) will the RIAA be able to do anyhting other than go and **** them selvs, and there is a sort of firewall thing that you can get to blok them so only if you are an idot with a turely vast suply of bootlegs on a high speed connection who lives in america will have to even think about being worried.

as for the cartoon what were they planning to do in the third season?

It's not known, though a group of fans have taken matters into their own hands, producing some comics based on what they believe the third season would have been like.

i remember both cartoons, and i remember the last episode where Robotnik's sidekick had some plan, but none came after that. but it was a good way to rap up the show in case there wasn't a 3rd season.

Unfortunately, that's true.  At the time, the SatAM cartoon was competing with the Power Rangers, and unfortunately, it lost out.  Very sad, because at the time, I prefered Power Rangers over..well, everything else really.  Like many children in that day.  I simply loved the different Zords, and collected a number of them.  I've always loved mecha, though my obsession now is with Gundam.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was good, but when they started all this Zeo and Ninja and Wildforce and.......well, all that other **** it just started being so totally ****ing stupid.

A bunch of kids given super-powers and huge robots to fight an evil old witch, I can believe. But replacing them every year then doing away with the all-powerful morpher-coin things for increasingly more powerful trinkets and gems? New super baddies? Sending them across the galaxy and back in time?

No.

It was watchable till about the time the White Ranger came onto the scene.
Title: Sonic™ Boom
Post by: Carl on December 25, 2003, 10:52:58 am
the problem with them getting more powerful every season is if the super megazord station cube box 64 or whatever it is now were to fight the first rita monsters, it could destroy them with a flick of the finger. so then why didn't they just use those powers in the first place?:D

As far as i can tell, the newer ones don't have to be more powerful, because it's always a different team with a different baddie not continuing from any of the other series. plus when any of the old rangers come back for a guest appearance, there old powers seem to be enough to get the job done.

...i need a girlfriend.

someone asked for the sound track, I finaly managed to trick the computer into playing the thing as an audio disk, seems the exsistance of a data track confused the hell out of every cd player I put it in,
I was only able to get the present and future versions of each level, the past music is in a diferent format (unfortunate becase there some of the better ones) I'm uploading now and the file should be done in about an hour after this post
here (http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/blackwater/sonic_cd_sountrack.zip)
would someone be kind enough to mirror that somewere I'm probly going to run out of space soon (if I don't half way through the upload) and that will be the first thing I delete.

Here's a reminder for those who watched these shows...

Sonic the Hedgehog (http://www.tvtome.com/SonictheHedgehog/)
Sonic Underground (http://www.tvtome.com/SonicUnderground/)
Sonic X (http://www.tvtome.com/SonicX/)
The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (http://www.tvtome.com/AdventuresofSonictheHedgehog/)

The first and the last were ok, I guess... (was very young at the time) but underground was bad... too musical I guess :doubt:

As for power rangers, the first season was ok... then the endless repetition of the plots ruined it. :ick

Then came lost galaxy and the hope for a better series with a more sci-fi look ;)
Unfortunatly it got twisted like all the others with repetitive plots... Is it that difficult to create a steady plot like in Babylon 5 or... er....

enough talk, here's the series for you...
Power Rangers (http://www.tvtome.com/PowerRangers/)
