The first one was mildly amusing, but this one features a CGI baby which is quite frankly the scariest CGI character since Gollum.

that's one impressive CGI baby. i don't know what it has to do with the mask, though.

They could do it the easy way and have Ipkis' kid getting the powers somehow. Be it through simply the fact that he's it father or through something more obscure like its mother gets Mask'd during pregnancy/labour.

Or they could do it the really ****ing stupid way whereby the Mask gets ground into dust and spilled into a big vat of baby-food.

(although, to be serious, I think you're giving the screenwriters a bit too much credit.  More likely, it just happens for no_reason_whatsoever)

The first film was nice enough. It was basically a live action cartoon.

The original mask was funny and somewhat amusing. Nice watch, better than some other movies I've seen.
