Hi. I was wondering how could I convert/import/export/whatever the Ares fighter from FS2 to Conflict Freespace. Is this possible? And if so, what do I need to do?
-
Hey there new fellow. Go find Karajorma's FAQ to get started in modding. Specifically, you want to open up the model in... er... probably ModelView (or possibly PCS), and save it as a FS1 model. The use VP view to extract the Ares maps (it's called TFight-bonus1 or something like that) and pop them in your maps folder in the FS1 directory, and the model in the models directory. Or something. I'm no good with Fs1 modding.

Right, thanks for replying!

did someone say FS1?

Open the model in Modelview (links in my FAQ). Click on the pof editor. Go to the editor menu and choose save as FS1 model. Then follow DG's advice about getting the textures out of the FS2 vp files (more help with VPView is also in the FAQ)
Welcome to HLP BTW.

:D We like being helpful (just don't mention the number before 4 ;) )
Welcome aboard!

Just out of interest what are you doing with the Ares in FS1?
-
Oh, just playing around I guess, Ares was my favorite fighter in FS2, and since I love the original Freespace so much, I thought combining the two would be cool.
