Scout team of Apollos trying to find a weakness in the defense of Vasuda Prime.
Not that great I know, but I spent a good three or four hours on it.:D
You'll have to click to see the full version, obviously.:p
Feel free to ignore this like most of you do to my other art threads....:doubt:
EDIT: Don't just tell me you don't like it, tell me why so I can make my next one better.
-
ok i like it ... BUT!
the planet dosent look all that roundish ... and i think vasuda prime was more yellowish (adjust the hue of texture)
the engine glows on those fighters near that erm typhon are too big make em smaller (gives more of a depth of field view)
the nabula make the patterns a bit more defined (currently it looks like a brown splat :))
-
Ashrak, those aren't fighters. Those are Atens I believe(or Mentu, I always get them mixed up)
Love the planet, though I think there's a bit too much water for a designated "desert planet".
Not much of a sense of movement, try a tiny bit of motion blur on the apollos.
And you think your threads get ignored? My last render thread had 2 replies. :doubt:
-
Ambient light bad. Otherwise, let me second DragonClaw.
-
uhm this might sound stupid but compare the engine glows of those atens to the ships themselves.....the engine glow is half as big as the ship and now think FS2 ingame......
-
The planet is a heavily modified pic of Mars.:p
All the engine glows were made with Solarcell. I might be able to redo them.
And yeah, they're Atens. You can really see it in this pic, but in the original I made (4000*3000) there's fighters swarming around the Typhon, and a few freighters to boot. They're probably one pixel each now.
EDIT: I would edit it, but I have one problem: I already flattene the image, and I forgot to save and editing version with layers. When I get back from Ohio I may edit it.
EDIT2: Also, I know the ambient lighting sucks. There is no ambient lighting, the ships are lit all the way around because that' how modelview, my resident 3d rendering tool displays them.:D

theres alot of dead space in the pic, yeah i know space is for the whole empty but, it just kind of looks off. Also there is a lack of shading on the planet, with the sun behind it as it is in this pic the planet should be heavily in shadow.
Also the motion blur and other suff said above.
-
The sun and the planet are very good.
But the Atens in the background seem to have too big engine glows. Others mentioned it as well, I know.
-
i read the title and got- surprised. i thought it'd be a landscape of some sort. considering where i am, i shouldn't have been surprised that it was space.
why is it brown? that's weird...
i like that star, it's pretty and tasteful and... well, very nice.
-
Planet is outstanding. Sun is very standard. Engine glows are overpowering. Ambient lighting inappropriate given visible light source. Composition quite good. Hues are atypical, which I think is good.
In summary, nice one, could be better. As always. ;)
-
Planet is just a picture of Mars edited for a bit, so of course it's good.:D
Sun is glitterato.:)
Lighting is impossible to do in 2d. At least for me.
I might just go back to pure natural stuff, and see how that turns out.

The Vasudan fleet is wayyyyyyy too far away, I can barely tell what kind of ships they are.
I like it though!
-
How can you see it? Swooh isn't even back online ( unless you already checked the thread before, of course :p )

You're not really supposed to be able to that much. Just the Typhon really.
