i need a good leathery or wood texture that would look nice in the brown area.

TS has a nice procedural lether and wood, and you could always try simbiont

I wouldn't, if there is a good procedural 3D texture it will beat the ass of of a 2D raster rexture anyday, other than in somw specific cercomstances

you need to soften up those edges.
