Title: Geometry (physical)
Post by: Beowulf on December 29, 2003, 08:11:42 pm
Quick question...... Can I texture a series of faces that dont form a solid shell and have them appear in FreeSpace? The idea being a shield shell that only covers portions of a ship. Would that work? Keep in mind that these are textures, not an actual shield object.

Thanks!

If you mean a mesh with holes, well, yeah, that's possible.
But that would still be an object.

Thanks! I meant it's not a shield as seen by FreeSpace, just geometry....

Which leads me to a second question, will a shield with holes in it work?

See MCP in Tron.  Sheilds with holes work fine if you can make the holes hard to hit and are worth it if having the holes makes them stronger somehow.
