What a kick-ass series. But only 5 seasons? What a rip-off.
Anyway, this is a nice little nostalgia thread prompted by my finding a few eps of Season 5 on KaZaA.
I really liked Quantum Leap. It actually had a believable premise and good writing.
The final episode kicked some major ass, with the closing line: "Dr. Sam Beckett Never Returned Home"
And Alia (the evil leaper) was awesome.
Ah, well. C'est la vie.........
-
lol?
-
why would you say a thing like that?
I hear it was good.. my mom liked it.. although I was rather young to like it myself.
-
well, yeah, I rather liked the series. The finale was awesome indeed. And there were some cool stuff.
So, bye-bye Quantum Leap. We miss you.

QL has been gone for what? 6 years now?! who cares. it was good ok but 6 years AFTER it's gone cmon
-
I loved it, one of the few Sci-Fi series that I watched from start to finish, the last episode indeed did kick ass. Though what a pisser.

So's B5. What's your point?

what was the name of the last eppisode?
-
Mirror image, if memory serves me.

"oh boy"

And now he's on Enterprise.
Is that a step up or a step down? Hmmm...
-
Yeah, was cool, but the last episode, to me, was weird, ok, but awesome. Ah well, thinking god is some chitchating barman is kindda funny.

What's funny though is that after first seeing him on Quantum Leap, I said to myself he was doomed to be a Trek captain. Afterall, with a name like Bakula that pretty much seals it. Mainly because so many actors in Trek have unconventional last names.

Should I ever get any serious power in this country, I'm making the guy a Count

ROFL!!!

Sure it was good, but it's kind of like MacGyver.... you remember it a lot better than it actually was. When I watch MacGyver of Quantum Leap now, I realize how utterly corny the whole series were.
And the writing was not all that good.
Although I did enjoy watching it at the time.

let's all make a solem oath right now to do the same, cause that would rock.

you know, there is sort of a ****ed up sceen in an enterprise eppisode were the guy who played thehollogram guy in QL is holding Archer prissoner, if you were a big QL guy, this might mess with your mind, it's epp 1-21 detained.
-
Yes, that was.....odd.
And IIRC quantum leap died sometime in 93 but finished airing in 97 in some parts of the world. I could be wrong though.
-
I watched Q Leap while I was in hospital as a child while stuck in bed - up until then i loved the show but after that I lost heart. Was cool tho.

Sliders was better. Well, until the bajillionth season, when they completely lost anything resembeling a good story. Was great for a while, a long while.
-
I agree, awesome series. I especially liked his guide...Sam, right?

Nope, Sam ( Becket ) was Bakula's character, the "guide" was Al Calavicci( Dean Stockwell ). Don't quote me for spelling tho.
Oh, I remember the first episode, now, was f'cking cool, he was the pilot for the X1, iirc?

Chuck Yeager?

Sliders had some good episodes (I loved the one where intelligence was treated like athletic ability) but it had some absolutely dreadful ones in the first season (USSR world, British colony world etc).
It was season 3 where it really went down the tubes with rip off after rip off of The Time Machine, Species, horror movies etc. How on Earth they managed to get 2 more seasons is beyond me. Even offering sexual favours from Kari Wuhrer & Sabrina Lloyd shouldn't have been enough to save them.
