Well, here's a higher poly version of aldo's GTD Oceanus... its about 3500 polys

Maybe I'll feature it in CIM as an SOC Destroyer... we'll see
-
now THAT every1 is what a destroyer should look like!
-
**** me backwards, that's fantastic!
Raven, while your stuff is always great most of it does not look even slightly FreeSpacey. But this thing looks like the logical descendeant of an Orion. And I love it.
-
certainly lookin' very very good :)
-
Nice!...Alltough i don't like the nose too much...
-
With the nose, maybe stick a big old beam emitter on it?
-
It's quite conventional imho. Good, but nothing special.
-
Raven, I never cease to be amazed by your work. Awesome job man!
-
To be honest, it looks like the Collossus younger, better-looking brother.
That's a good thing.
-
Even though it is pretty conventional, I think that gives it a certain charm(I have a weakness for simple/clean designs).
Great job, Raven!
-
Pretty good terran design. The nose kind of throws me off however, and the extrusions could use a few touch-ups. Other than that looks like you are on track to a good ship. :)
-
I'll agree about the nose. It doesn't quite fit with the rest of the ship.
-
very nice again raven:)
-
very nice,
and I like the nose BECAUSE it doesn't fit the rest of the ship, it makes the whole thing looking somehow "strange" and futuristic.
I'd try to make the nose even more strange, more slim, with a bottleneck on the connection with the rest of the hull, and maybe placing it not in the middle, but on a side.
-
it looks like a futuristic pencil or pen to me, i for one am against the so called 'simplistic design' i know its a more realistic design and what ever, but well ... i dunno it just doesnt feel right to me.
(first piece of your work raven i havent liked)
-
Sometimes a little ugliness is just as good as beuty (see in Evangelion for example). It gives a character to a ship - and that's better than coolness.
Remember the PBY Catalina - it was fat, ugly but once in service people started to love it - especially when it saved you on open water.
-
The pb is not it's ugly or anything, the pb is it's boring. And THAT is bad.
-
exactly, it looks like a pen
-
Well, I'm sorry you don't like the design... most of you at least...
After all, there's not much I can do. This ship/design was made by aldo, I only took the liberty of adding details to it...
The pics have been updated, the ship is now textured
Oh, btw, I have good news!! I'm happy to say that I've just finished both GTA and Dominion capital ship fleets for CIM!!
GTA's fleet will be composed of: GTC Demeter (an higher poly version of aldo's for Paradigm Shift), GTCv Calypso, GTD Sparta (the one I released), GTD Phaeton, GTD Phaeton mk2 and GTFf Sapha (a variant of the Phaeton mk2 without the vertical stuff...)
Dominion's fleet will have: SDC Jormungand, SDCv Cernunnos and the SDD Vanir.
I only need Strattcom to retouch the UV mapping, and then I'll send them to Sigma for converting and turreting :) Damn I'm happy!!
-
Wow. Awesome as usual. I really can't keep thinking of new compliments for your ships, there's just too much good stuff.
Looks like a carrier to me. I mean, you've got the bigass hull, with what appears to be a hanger bay in the front. I think that it would most naturally be wuited to being a carrier, but thats just me.

Well, don't take it personnally, but the moment you started popping up great ships, there was no way I would go easy on you anymore. When I'll think it's good, I'll tell you so, when I think it's not, I won't try and be nice ;)
Altho I gotta admit my posts lacked constructive criticism, but I just can't see what to add/change that would improve the thing w/o an overhall redesign.
-
To be fair, the Oceanus was never a particularly inspired design - it was basically a revision of the Orion and, truth be told, I was never particularly happy with it.
-
I was.. sorta.
-
texsture model.... hey where are those 3500 polys:wtf:
-
Right now it looks more civy than military.
-
Methinks it may have been smoothed a bit. IIRC the Oceanus was pretty 'blunt' originally, plus it had those spiky side dock things at the front.
-
Definately work on the nose a bit. Other than that, fantastic.
-
Well... I won't spend more time on this one anymore... maybe I'll just use it as an old Sol Carrier/Destroyer...
-
i deffinatly looks better textured  .... still looks like a fancy pen thou
