Red Alert 2's Blow It Up. (http://www.swooh.com/peon/Nuclear1/ra2blowitupfull.mp3) This single song is simply one of the best bits of PC game soundtrack I've ever heard (almost as good as HW's Agnus Dei).
-
Pretty good. Mechwarrior 2 and its sequels had better music though.
-
You've obvoulsy never played Blast Corps (http://nodewar.penguinbomb.com/saab/blah/Simian Acres.mid)
-
Meh. I prefer HellMarch
-
Yeah, Hellmarch and Hellmarch II were my favorites.
-
"I'm a mechanical man. I'm a mechanical, I'm a mechanical, I'm a mechanical man."
-
becase I don't think enough people saw it
the sonic CD sound track (http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/blackwater/sonic_cd_sountrack.zip)
-
Homeworld 1 or Quake 2 :)
-
Goldeneye64 has cracking music IIRC.
-
many games have cool musics. Activision games, usually, for exemple.
Or Blizzard.
-
Tribes 2 had a few good tunes. But hey, Tie-Fighter had bloody Awesome music that changed according to the situation...
-
Freespace series anyone?
Nuff said, BCM G rules!!!
-
The original FS soundtrack kicked ass.
X-Wing Alliance also had a great score lifted straight from the films.
-
Operation Flashpoint has some bloody good music in it.
-
I'd have to say that Homeworld has the best music I've come across.
Deus Ex had a good score though.

-
Thalion's all time classic Ambermoon.
-

I feel like locking this thread and leaving this quoted post as the final word.
C&C abso-friggin-lutely rocked!!
-
This thread is 30% evil.
I suppose that's low enough to win my approval.
-
Exactly what criteria do you use for level of evil Stryke? :)

-
Numerology.
It's worth noting that the evil index here has gone down 5% since I first posted in it. Figures, really.
-
there's some site somewere that does that, I'm assuming he is useing that
-
What, serves as an Evil-o-meter? I'm sure there are quite a lot that do.
-
are you not useing one of them?
-
Are you expecting a straight answer? Takes all the fun out of it.
Webpages are certainly unnecessary for doing it. The numerology bit can be done with a calculator and a fine sense of bull****. Never mind Biblical symbolism, etc. But then, maybe I'm using a webpage. Or a chicken leg. Or it's possible I'm showing the text of the posts to a statue of the Virgin Mary and seeing if she cries. All of which are, in my opinion, viable options, though Mary is sometimes crying about something wholly unrelated to Internet sacriledge.
Also, the URL of this thread has three whores dwelling in it.
-
C&C March to Doom and Warfare are my favs.
-
Meh. Didn't work out of context.
-
C&C 1: Act on instict
Red Alert 1: Hellmarch (i found the guitar tab for it somewhere), Trenches, Radio 2
Brood War Terran soundtrack.
GTAIII (Rise FM) -- i'd include chatterbox 109, but thats not music
some Half-life tracks
-
C&C RA1: Hellmarch, a few others that I cant find now :(
C&C RA2: Blowitupfull, Destroyitfull, Hellmarch 2, Brainfreeze
Resident Evil 3: Creepy stuff there- especially like the intro when Nemesis arrives >:)
Resident Evil 1: Some of this stuff was CREEPY
Freespace 2: Alas, I have never heard the glory of the original freepsace music, but FS2 kicks @ss
Simcity 3000: Some of the best Jazz stuff I've heard

dam straight!
Meh, i happen to wubb0rz the UT soundtrack
-
Freespace, Final Fantasy and Max Payne.
-
Halo
-
Both FS2's (including Inferno - cause I absolutely love Hidden), Dune, Turrican II.
-
WAR never been so much fun!
-
Halo,final fantasy GTA3&vice city
-
Transport Tycoon had some lovely ragtime stuff.
And if anyone's interested, I've extracted all the C&C, RA and Aftermath music. If you want it, just ask.
-
See? Most games have better soundtracks than most movies/series ( bare some classics, of course ).
I always found that highly ironical.
-
Damn, so many games have so great soundtrack. It's hard to pick, but I think my favorite soundtrack is in Outcast. It's a great game too :)
EDIT: How could I forget one of the greatest games ever? Tie Fighter has an awesome soundtrack.

Forgot to add Transport Tycoon as well- damn that was a good game :))
Is that RA1 or RA2 music? If its RA1, is it in .mp3 or .wav format?
PM me, I dont think discussing this in a thread is exactly legal :nervous:

Cannon Fodder. Fell about first time I heard that one.

I can't see why. If the first post in the thread can contain a link to one of the RA2 tracks, then surely it's perfectly fine to discuss sharing of the rest of them?
-
true, quite true.
btw- Destroyitfull is better than Blowitupfull IMO. Its the battle song I play whenever I invade someone else using hovercraft- it suits the occasion quite well!
-
Conflict Freespace, Final Fantasy 7 and Interstate 76
-
Since nobody else has mentioned them, Torment and Chrono Trigger. Oh, and several Anachronox tracks.
-
Most of the music from the real C&C games (real as in not C&C Generals) is great, otherwise I also like the music from Conflict : Freespace, Freespace 2, Starcraft(Terran), Halo and C&C Generals(USA).
-

I can't believe I forgot about Outcast!:D
The music after he awakes in Adelpha is so cool!! They actually hired an orquestra to play the damn music?
-
How could you people forget Shogo?
-
Or NOLF2? Or TA? Or SS2?
-
C&C original had the best darn music collection (Mechanical Man, Industrial, Act On Instinct, and Demolition were some of the best C&C music ever). I really like the new style present in C&C Generals as Bill Brown is one of my favorites.
-
I'm still waiting for a game with a Thin Lizzy soundtrack.
Yes.
-
You didn't know who Thin Lizzy were until you saw Phil Lynot's picture on the back of a War of the Worlds LP
:ha:
-
Woohoo! All the C&C music! Yay!
http://www.planetcnc.com/flash/flash.html
-
Stupid flash :doubt:
SOmeone cares to look at the source and find the real urls?
-
Not mentioning Super Mario World in this thread would be a crime.
Click (http://nodewar.penguinbomb.com/saab/blah/625_World 2 & Yoshi.mp3)
-
whoa!! Thats good stuff!!!
Anyone know where I can download the stuff? ;)
-
Talk to Petrarch, he lifted all the music from Tiberian Dawn with the extractor gimo. As an aside, I love the fact that I can still get hold of modding tools for the game :D
-
If there is an increased demand, I'll upload the lot to somewhere or other.
w00t. That site with all the SS, SS2 and Theif music is back up.
http://www.ttlg.com/other/jukebox/main.htm
-
Red Alert 1 had some good musictracks(Hellmarch is somehow not the best for me.)
All musics(except for the Monolith) in FS1.
Otherwise, the Korriban music mix for JKA was also good.
I often listen to it while doing some editing. I unextracted all the battle tracks from the vp, and I made an individual playlist for them.
-
I liked the music from Tiberian Sun ("Valves" especially)
I usually avoid praising TS 'cos most C&C hardcore fans hate it...
Tekken 2, the original Soul Edge/Blade and SNES Probotector are personal favorites.
-
Bah, with Firestorm, TS was cool.
-
On my PC the Firestorm expansion was really un-stable.
-
I love Battlezone II :D
-
Bah....Battlezone I was way better - Bz II was a crowd pleaser action game, but gamplay or strategy wise was way inferior to its ancestor.
-
yes! BZ has nice music. and lets not forget the music from Descent 3
-
Mafia
-

huh, descent3 musics were awful, nothing compared to the ones from Descent 1 ( Mac version ) or 2.
That crappy techno ****.

Giants, Battlezone, Panzer Dragoon (and Zwei and Saga and Orta) Halo, Gods, Xenon 2, Quake, Grand Theft Auto (first one), Interstate 76, Turrican 2 and about a million others that I couldn't possibly be arsed to think about now.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought BZ II tried to make improvements where none were needed, the first game was nigh on perfect and the second one lost that feeling for me.
Interstate 82 made me want to cry with the sheer level of potential it had and what it actually turned out like.

Would ya please? :D
-
Hmm... I'd have to say the MGS2 theme is the best video game music I've ever heard. Metroid Prime, Final Fantasy III, Homeworld, and Max Payne also have some great music, Neverwinter Nights' is pretty good too.
and Halo too...

Tell me which you want and I'll upload it/them.
-
Yep, Turricane rocked! Then there was KKND that had some good stuff in it as well! Call to Power 2 has good stuff, Homeworld, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and Tron 2.0! Diablo has some excelent stuff too!
-
I still listen to the Turrican II soundtrack from time to time. It is probably the coolest Amiga soundtrack ever (I would say it is the coolest but something keeps telling me there is a cooler one I'm forgetting!).
The music was so cool that they set up a special music menu so that you could listen to all the tunes without having to fight through to level the tune was from :)
I think my favourite from that game is The Wall (http://swooh.com/peon/karajorma/Misc-Pics/Turrican%20II%20-%20The%20Wall%20.mp3) (World 4, Level 1) but the music from the main titles and the first level rocked too.
(BTW I uploaded that one cause I don't think it's available on The CD (http://www.synsoniq.de/productdetails.php?pid=5&searchtext=turrican)
-
I think in-game music players are great.
-
It came to my mind what I missed from my previous list:
Yuri's Revenge!

I agree with you two, BZ1 is practically a masterpiece. It's got atmosphere, a fun plot, good gameplay.
Battlezone 2 tried too hard to "improve it" and art direction wise BZ2 just doesn't compare to the original.
-
A few gamemusic sites I would recommend:
Syntax Error - swedish radio show that plays game music (http://www.syntaxerror.nu)
Frank Klepacki's website - the dude that made the C&C music (http://www.frankklepacki.com)
Zophar.net - tons of NES, SNES and other platform's music(has some emulation stuff on it, i think that it is legal since there are only emulators and homemade roms) (http://www.zophar.net)
-
Wow. Yeah. Red Alert's Hell March was good enough that I bought a $3 copy in Hong Kong and I hate the game.
Shogo's music was kickass.
But by far and away the best was actually System Shock 2, especially the Bart Klepka mixes. :D
-

Nothing to be proud of :doubt:.
-
Well if they'd have released a sound track, I'd have bought that, Venom. As it was, the game wasn't worth the $3 I paid for it.
Besides, when did I ever claim to be "proud" of it?
-
There's a soundtrack, I could even find it in France :p
-
Hmm... Best Game Soundtrack?
Michael Giacchino's Medal of Honor albums are great orchestral music.
Also just fresh Beyond Good & Evil has one awesome battle theme.
And last but not least... Christopher Franke's score for cancelled B5: Into the Fire. (damn those extended 5 x 11 min. versions of Battle Sequences rule seriously)
-
There wasn't as soundtrack when the game initially came out Venom. I couldn't find it anywhere in Japan, the US or in Hong Kong. And no, I'm not buying it from France. You're the only likeable person in that god forsaken country.
Obligatory Justification: I'm rather glad I only paid $3. The game wasn't worth a tenth of that, aside from the music.
-
meh, Chrono Trigger/ Chrono Cross OST's = deh best RPG music evar
-
Hell yes. *listening to Chrono Cross - Fragments of Dreams*
Though I wouldn't say its the best. I have quite a few other favorite soundtracks from RPGs. (Especially SNES ones)
-

The Aria di Mezzo Caraterre from FF6. Best single piece of game music ever. Especially when arranged for full orchestra and voices. Man, that one chokes up me up hard whenever I hear it. It was powerful on my SNES's little FM synth and its only more so when you hear it actually sung.
-
Metroid/Super Metroid. :D :D :D

I love that game, it's beautiful and odd. Just the way I like 'em.
On a side note, I'm enjoying KOTOR more than any game I've played (bar Panzer Dragoon Orta and Halo) in the past two years.
Bioware deserve every game award going this year.

Ah yeah, I forgot all my friends are kid eating tards. Not my fault, couldn't find better :doubt:
You know the first problem with french people? It's foreign televisions.
-
You mean they're french AND eat children? Double jeopardy.
I thought the first problem with french people was their attitude. Of course the same could be said about us Americans (and I'll be the first to say it).
-
French-eating children have what to do with game soundtracks again? *hint hint*
-
I may be a bit biased, but I'd say the best game music track I've ever heard is the soundtrack of the intro sequence of Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom. All of George Oldzieys tracks rule, those he did for Ultima too, but "Space ambush and combat" is the best. It sounds so...."cinematic". I actually spend quite some time to track down that music on the internet until I found it. Was hard to find.

You know what? It might not be the best ( I'd be hard pressed to say what is my favourite music ever anyway ), but you're f'cking right. Now that I remember it, I have chills running along my back.
If someone can manage to find the full WC4 OST for me ( not some crappy remix like you can find on the net ), I'll build him any ship ( her, one ship, I prefer to make it clear :p ) he wants for FS2.
-
Now working!
http://www.scifi-3d.de/wcsaga/Lynx's stuff/WCIV_intro.wav
I have it available here. Sadly it's not complete, but the end of the song fades out o that you don't notice it really
-
Thanks :)
I managed to get the whole Prophecy OST, but the rest... :(
-
Lynx, I rule:
http://www.oldzieymusic.com/tunes/wing4int.mp3
more ( but still not ) complete version, with better quality :D
and while I'm at it:

:p
-
I see... I should make my WC music collection available ;)
-
yup, you should :p

ah, another Wing Commander fan ;) I'll see what I should upload, most of the tracks are available for download on the WC CIC (http://www.wcnews.com) website.
And since it is related to the topic somehow: try out this clip ;) You won't be disappointed

Yeah, I tried Brown music already ( the WC saga website is about the only HLP one I check on a regular basis ).
Aren't the musics available at the cic remixes?
-
*thanks for the kind words ;)*
most of them yes... they lack 1 track from wc3 I think... maybe something else. I was able to partially extract music from WC4 cutscenes
-
I'm uploading the zipfile with all the C&C music now.
I'll post a link when it's done.

-
How about I just point my speakers in the general direction of whoever wants to hear the music?
-
i have to say i like the soundtrack from Chaos Gate, i wonder if you can still buy that game???? and Primal god damn thats a good game oh and XGRA Extreme G Racing.
-
Incoming was great too, but I can't get the music anywhere :(

:p

Oooops... forgot about that :nervous:
-
Best game soundtrack ever is Tim Follin's Ghouls & Ghosts soundtrack for the Amiga anyway. Best single game theme is Rob Hubbard's Sanxion loader. Everyone knows this to be true :D

I'll try uploading the whole lot again tonight, but until then, here's a select few.

Strange. I'll have a look when I get home tonight.
