Title: Simple Idea

"Import Background" button in the Background editor - saves mucking about in the mission file for missions that take place in the same systems. I'm assuming this'd be reasonably simple, though I do realize you guys are in code freeze ATM...

For Reci we're making templates. When you first make a mission set in a certain system, simply copy the background section of the mission file and paste in to a text file. Just make sure you label them.

I just open another mission and delete everything except the background :D

It would be a nice feature though.

I've been doing that bit manually :)

Excellent idea.  Useful and straightforward to code.  This is the kind of suggestion that should be posted more often.

It being in a code freeze and all, could you bump this when the freeze is lifted?  Then, if nobody does it right away, bump it from time to time to remind us.  Rest assured we'll implement it, but sometimes these things have a way of getting away from us (c.f. the disruptor weapon mod and the persistent variables) ;).

I don't get it. Surely this is something you lot normally say 'stop being lazy and wasting our time' to...

Cause I'm guessing that Goober thinks he can do this in about 5 minutes.

He's probably correct too. I can't imagine it being too hard. As Aldo says it's just ascii text anyway.

Thanks. :) Unfortunately, now we have to worried about FRED being all screwed up. :(

I'm not sure when we'll get FRED all ironed out, and I'm in the middle of moving back to college.  Tell you what... bump it in a week, and I'll see what I can do. :)

:sigh: This keep slipping my mind. :(

Well, FRED's behaving itself again, but we're back in a code freeze. :D Just keep bumping this and I'll get to it ASAP when the freeze is over.

When does this freeze end?  Or don't they have a preset time?

The code freeze in question has been over for a long time, Kie.  A long, long time.

Goob just said we're back in a code freeze. That is the one I was referrign to.

No, they don't have a set ending time.

They usually last until the next major release.

This one has had at least two set ending times, actually. Inqui said middle of June, and there was a general consensus to release last week.

I think there may have been another one I was missing.
