they look like they're floating. very sweet, as usual.
im just curious, hig; do you have any earlier examples of your work? im talking like, first and second attempts. i know how crap i started out, years and years and years ago, and im curious to see how people develop (aside from me, cos i've been following me all my life)
-
i started draw when i was 10 (17years ago but i gotta look around some very old's
-
well, any available examples?
any other random artists who might read this, please post your old stuff up too. i seriously am curious. don't be embarrassed, i promise i wont laugh. (cant guarantee for others, sorry.)
-
I started drawing as soon as I could hold a pen, so I let you imagine my first attempts :p

that's one of my latest serious drawings. It's more than a year old tho, made it when I was at Nantes.
-
wow, nico, that's mad, really cool.
only thing... er... did you actually read my post or did you just jump on an opportunity? :) i did ask for earlier drawings... after all, we all know you're good.
(sidenote, i hate clouds of any form. they don't work for me. same goes for surf.)
-
I jumped on the opportunity :D

I was in art school ( prepa class ), the subject was "ruin". So voila.
Nope, nobody, but the scan is smaller than the original, then I rescalled, so details got lost. It's just an half open door.
-
you did it for the compliments, didnt you, nico you egomaniac. fine. ill give you what you want. it's a very inspirational picture, full of atmosphere, tension and great use of line.
did you use pen or pencil?
impurial, that's a wall with night above it. isn't it? hey, hig, some pretty obvious improvements, huh? huge change in style for one thing... i dont see any anime characteristics at all. then again, your anime is much better than this, so keep on with it.
-
i wouldn't even dare post my old works :nervous:
-
Oh... I thought it was horizons with water in foreground. Silly me. :P

Thank you thank you :D.
Nah, I just posted that coz I was too lazy to scan an old pic ( assuming I'd find anything more than 10 years old anyway ).
Used Rotrings on that one ( those pen you put china ink in, very cool to use, but awful to recharge ).
-
lazybutt.
i actually meant those compliments.
only problem with using pen and ink is that you can't really make mistakes.

You first draw with a pencil, the ink goes over, and when you're done, you erase the pencil marks. Makes work much easier.
-
hm, gotta think about trying that some time. normally when i used to get bored in school i'd be doodling in a scrap book with my current pen, so i got someway proficient at not making too many bad mistakes... and covering up the worse ones
-
nice :)
-
HIG, a tip to avoid copywrite issues is to also show the preliminary sketches that you scanned in.
EDIT: oh, and they're both incredible :D
