It may be a load of work for very little, but is it poss. for very large turrets ( or their barrels) to have some sort of kick back effect. WW2 battleship stylee ?

How do you mean 'kick back' effect? I assume you know what you mean, I am just not completely sure.

(Insofar as I understand, 'kick-back' == recoil)

Not at present... it's been mentioned as a future SCP addition, but I don't think anything is implemented.  I have a feeling this is because the subobject animation system only really covers rotation - not any sort of lateral movement, so it'd need a big overhaul.

Multiple dockings are pretty much out of the question. Judging by the last thread on the subject, I doubt turret recoil is going to happen any sooner. Maybe you ought to talk to Kazan if he's taking suggestions for this Ferrium thingy...

Ferrium will be a complete Object Oriented Implementation of FS with its own self-devloped engine.

Of course it will be created with all the possibilities in my, however it didn't even get off the drawing board.

Right now what you can help them with is draw up top-down schematics for the actual code that would implement the stuff you want.

So will Ferrium support recoil, turrets on the sides and multi-ship docking????

Probably since it will be made from the very basics, so things like that can be taken into account - of course true simultanious multiship docking will be impossible, but you won't really notice it.

What you can help with is think of an algorythm that could keep track of the different ships in a docked complex.

atualy recoil probly wouldn't be that hard, it's just we have better things to do
what would you rather have recoil or... damage decals

Recoil.

And turrets that don't fire though theirs ships own hull.

And ships allowed to fire more than 4 turrets per target.

And user defined actions for turrets on player-flown craft ala X-Wing Alliance.

Do those things and I'll be happy.:):nod:;)
