This is my first foray into Freespace 2 mods, and it seems that I can't get the game to understand teh launchers flag commands.
I've downloded and stuck in the following files according to their readmes and i done it one at a time, I *think* I saw the modified guns and shinemaps (been a long while since I last played FS2)
- 3.3.3.zip
- fs2_open355.zip
- Glowmaps_FS2_alpha.zip
- Hires_Planets_FS2_v1.0.zip
- info.zip
- Launcher.rar
- Mediavp356c.exe
- Shine_FS2_1.0.zip
and certain that the new engines are there, but I assume I'm missing something as all these errors pop up after i press "Run"
- Error: Unrecogzined command line parameter -htl
File:E:\Languages\Visual Studio Projects\Visual C++\fs2_open\code\Cmdline\cmdline.cpp
Line: 540
Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
kernel32.dll 77e814c7()
------------------------------------------------------------------
then
-Error: Unrecogzined command line parameter -pcx32 etc.
then
-Error: Unrecogzined command line parameter -jpgtga etc.
then the game runs, shows the source code start screen and pilot selection as usal. (It does have lines like mismatched textures that go normal when the mouse is over a button in the flight deck.
Do I need to patch FS2 as a whole or is nothing wrong at all? Also I've noticed I can't see any laser effects at all now, I assume it's related to -thl not working. Can;t find threads that describe an answer, nor any FAQ.
Thanks for any help!

Using the launcher to start the game, you have to select the fs2_open_r.exe in the laucher. Sounds like you have fs2.exe selected instead.
This doesn't belong in this forum either. But whatever.
-
offhand, I'd say it's the 'switches' you've entered. Maybe the order they're typed in (not sure if this matters, i would doubt it though), or they may have been changed form the last version(?).

aldo_14:
I would assume the launcher does it in the correct order if it works for everyone else..
Dragonclaw:
Sorry, and it is targeting
D:\Games\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_r.exe
I manually targetted it again to be sure and still no joy.

Then why does it say:
File:E:\Languages\Visual Studio Projects\Visual C++\fs2_open\code\Cmdline\cmdline.cpp
on E drive? That's weird.

A remarkably good question.. hmm.. would it be looking for stuff on the CD? I assume -thl is Modded and therfore not on the CD. Everywhere else in the launcher it refers to D:\ Only...

thats from the pc where it was compiled but should this not be in the scp forum ?

exe.r and exe.htl are different builds right ?
could that be a prob. ?
one of the errors mentions htl.

I'd move it if I could.. It was after I activated my account, jumped to wrong forum, my bad. I can't even delete it myself either.. damn.
-
Um. 3.5.5 doesn't support any of those features. You want the 12-05 build from the new builds thread in the SCP forum.
The dissappearing laser textures is a related thing. Since only the 12-05 build supports 32 bit textures the game loads in the 3.5.5 build loads them in but can't figure out how to display them. Again the 12-05 build will solve that problem.

Right I've found that.. give it a go once it's finished.
Can't say I fully understand what all these different things do, I was just going for the highest numbers of stuff that seemed relevant.

you and most people who don't have a little "SCP" picture under their name, heh.
(that wasn't a dig at the SCP, BTW)

Fantastic, using 12_05_2003_fs2_open_r.exe works fine, got rid of flight deck glitches too.
Thanks for your responses everyone.

Well, welcome to HLP, Psalmblaster. Interesting name... :)
Just in case further response in this topic is warranted, let's move her along to the SCP forum...
