I'm posting this from my wireless laptop (at home, I have a router + switch + 802.11b AP in my appartment - but also campus is covered in them!)
I will be able to work on some of the less intensive things from class such as FS Dev Studio and fs2netd - i will also be more available to ask questions
I don't think FS2 will run on this though, I'll just have to set how it works out when all the updates and stuff are applied. It does have a rage mobility 2x agp w/ 8mb of it's own memory...
[fyi: it's a thinkpad a20m with the 700mhz, w/o DVD - current ram 128mb - i have a 256mb SODIMM on the way]
-
that should run FSO, just not well
-
no it won't - RAM issue still pressent in latest builds i thought :P
i did just CVS FSDevStudio and POFConstructorSuite onto it :D
getting this shizat all setup for tommorow
-
Good. Maybe you can finish that while you're bored in class. ;)
-
hehe.. actually in class i'll probably be working on fs dev studio
-
:nervous: That's what I meant. ;)
-
i sure could use a laptop during computer architecture. This guy can put an insomniac to sleep.

his voice has no emotion at all..

I've had my share of them... meef
-
yes, but the chairs in that specific lecture hall are padded, and therefore comfy.
at least you can understand what he says. The Data Structures Prof is an unintelligible Apu.
-
Remembe rhte professor from the Simpsons? I had one teacher last semester... or was it two ago? well, nevermind that, I had a professor who I was always waiting to blurt out "Flayven" or some other... comment.
-
Frink. Im assuming he had a few loose screws.
Isnt it fun comparing professors to characters from the simpsons?

Sweet. I can never recommend those IBM Thinkpads enough. Best laptops ever, in my opinion. I used a T20 (think corporate version of the A20) and a T30 (think of your A20 with 512mb RAM, 1.3gig RAM, 1840x1440 display and a DVD+CDRW combo and builtin aironet). I miss working at Cisco more because I had to give up my T30 than for the pay (actually I do miss the pay). Oh, and FreeBSD ran like a DREAM. :)
Damn you Kazan, for making me bitter over my lost laptop. :D
-
yes but becase they fired you they got to save the pay they would have given you, wich caused ther profits to go up wich raised ther stock wich I am heavily invested in, investing primaraly in Cisco has given me 5 times what the broker recomended, in one year I've doubled my capital :D
-
note to self. gamble college money using the stock market.
-
lol @ phreak
-
wait untill it's REAL low, like after a major military/terrorist strike and/or at the peak of a huge financhal resesion that cuts the value of the market in half (or near it). then just invest $200 a month for a year or two, voiala instant retierment
honestly I nearly creamed my pants when I saw dow 7,500

Bastard. Actually, Cisco isn't saving any money in this case. I was on contract. Mine ended and they brought in another contracter in a different position, for the same pay. Cisco is paying the contracting company exactly as much now as they did before my contract ended ($500k/yr for 6 warm bodies. They would actually pay LESS if they HIRED the six warm bodies directly.)
-
Yes but think of all the money their saving by not having to administrate 6 extra bodies.
-
Um. Actually, they do. They have a manager who IS on the Cisco staff who has to manage them. If you're talking about the HR end of things, well, six more bodies isn't that much of a load on the ladies and gents that run the place.
I'm actually surprised that Bob's making a profit on Cisco stock. Most of the permanent employees can't cash in their stock options because the stock is currently worth less than their options are. They'd be paying $50 for $15 stock.
Ah well, I hated the place anyway. It was the least interesting job I've ever had, and that includes working in Taco Bell.

dont let your mom use your laptop. i did and she spilled her coke on it. i did salvage the cpu and hard drive.
-
my parents don't touch my computers
-
Meh, I'm constantly having to fix my parents computers :(
-
my 6 year old niece played on my laptop many times and she never even left fingerprints on my screen, i let my mom use it once and it gets fried.

Talk of "backwards compability"
