heh,Cool:)
-
I'm sorry, but the word "Bestiary" Makes me think of something totally unconnected and improper... Meh...
Back into the gutter I go...
-
god, that brings back memories :)
-
aye
-
That's obviously covering some Zelda games I've never seen or heard of.
-
Legend of Zelda was worth the price of SNES on it's own :) And that was when it was new.
It was the most fun I ever had on a console, which isn't hard admittedly, but that and Super Metroid were brilliant :)
-
Link to the Past remains my favourite Zelda :nod:

Oh how I love old game soundtracks.

Shame none of the links work.
-
Err... Don't they? I've downloaded all of the "Legend of Zelda mp3" section, and am eating my way through the "Ocarina of Time Dungeon mp3" section now.

LOZ = Legend of zelda
AOL = Adventures of Link
ALTTP= Link to the Past
LA = Link's Awakening
OoT = Ocarina of Time.
MM = Majora's Mask
OoS = Oracle of Seasons
OoA = Oracle of Ages
FS = ???
TWW = The Wind Maker
-
Yep. THere's a bunch in there I've never played or heard of. Oracle of Ages? Oracle of Seasons? I assume Adventure of Link is another name for Zelda II. *heh* I haven't the foggiest idea was FS is, nor Majora's Mask. Heck, the only reason I know Ocarina of Time is because it came with my Windwaker prepurchase.
I'm really very much not a fan of Zelda, if its not clear. Gimme Metroid any day.
-
Seasons and Ages were on gameboy. Very good games might I add. And you should probably be neutered for not having played OoT, Zelda fan or not. :p
-
Given the difficulty of getting SNES carts these days and the absolute torrent of bloody great games for the system I considered building one of these: Linky (chn.roarvgm.com/mcc/mcc.html) (Took me a good deal of time and research to find this).
I doubt it will handle any 'specailsed' games though i.e. those with custom chips, still an interesting project possibly.

I've played it. I've just not bothered to leave that first town you go to after you go to Zelda's castle for the first time. It got really rather bored very quickly. The game is really boring to me. I can see where it might appeal to children and keep their attention, but it just ain't for me.
The Windwaker is pretty cool, though. The controls seem a hell of a lot more polished, its prettier to look at and its easy to walk away from and come back to.

Burn this heretic.
OoT was perfection in 64 bits. Zelda is one of the few game series that has appeal to both adults and kids alike; where you got the idea that only children would like OoT, I dont know. 5 years ago, I would put in 25 hrs. a week taking my time and getting every last spider token. And I'd put in the same time now, very few games have that kind of appeal.
TWW in my opinion sucked. When they lost the utter coolness of adult Link and bought into the cell-shaded fad of last year, there was no quality that could redeem it. Then there's the story, what the farking hell is that tripe? A sister the we havent ever heard of? A red majik talking viking-longboat? Im sorry for you people that havent pleyed real Zelda.
Now, if they had made a darker, more thoughtful and powerful game with the infinite ammount of money Nintendo put into the project, it might have been another ALttP.
FS was a failed attempt to create a 2-4 player zelda experience, hence the name. It shipped with the remake of ALttP.

I got that idea from playing it. The game is annoying and childish and I disliked it. If you liked it, more power to you. I can't help it if you like childish games. Its okay. You'll grow up and get over it. We all do.

You're entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong. I couldn't care less if its cel shaded (to be fair, it isn't cel shaded, but the semantics are probably beyond the grasp of your small mind). Last I checked, we had heard of Link's sister. Right here in this game. Since none of the Links in any of the games are the same (So Spake Nintendo), this Link can have a sister. You got a problem with that? don't take it up with me, take it up with the people that made the games you worship so much. Same goes for the boat (which is neither Viking, nor a longboat, but again, details are probably beyond your miniscule intellect). I've played real Zelda. I'm pretty sure I indicated that I'd played a few of the Zelda games further up. Since they're all Zelda games from Nintendo, I think that pretty much makes them 'real Zelda'.

Wow. You managed to get some useful information there right at the end, just when I thought you were irredeemably stupid. There's hope for you yet.

Some work, some don't. None of the OoT ones work for me.

I haven't played the game for ages (so might be forgetting the order), but i think you've probably given up on it after playing about the first 5% of it.....presumably you never got round to getting to actually travel forward in time and get to the meat of the game?

Never even rode the horse?
Or found the underground cow?
It's very good. The ending is fantastic, too.
-
I'm still in the giant fish. I keep getting irritated with the fish-girl.
-
Can't really remember that much......I remember a big lake where you can fish, a cavern of fish-people and the Goron(?) lair with the fat rolly things. And an overgrown castle thing.
But the fighting in OoT kicked arse....kind of regret selling the N64 now.

Ho ho ho, you're both as daft as each other :)

Probably. It just got annoying really quickly. I know for a fact that I never moved forward in time in the game. Maybe I'll give it another shot one of these days. Its just hard to bring myself to do it: there's so many other games that already do interesting me and are not such a chore to play.
Yes, DG, I'm daft, but I know what I don't like. I understand why you might like it though. ;)

FS is Four Swords.
Yeah, multiple players. Never played it, don't really want to.

DG you can pick a second hand N64 up over here for about 15 to 20 snarlers; is it not similar in your neck of the woods? I was considering getting one a while back but my mate ofered to lend me his for as long as was necessary to play conkers bad fur day and both zeldas.
Managed to find someone with a SNES, she's going to sell it to me for cheap. Am much happy. :D

True dat. Actually, I'm not very well-versed with Zelda so I can't speak there, but Metroid was awesome. Pity I could never beat the final Metroid (I had M2: Return of Samus on Gameboy), so I have no idea what the ending is like.
-
TWW just doesn't seem very zelda to me. Maybe it was all the sailing.. or the whole cartoon thing... or maybe the kid thing..
Majora's Mask on the otherhand, seemed to capture the darker parts of OoT so to speak, and combine them with the artistic freshness you see now in TWW and put them in a nice non-cell shaded game. Go figure.

Goody, a flaming idiot. Why dont we all join in on the flaming: F**K YOU.
It just so happens, bastard, that while not all people like the classics, they are classics just the same. Things become classic when 'irredeemably stupid' people, like me and the untold millions of other people that bought it, stumble upon something truely brilliant. Such is the case with FreeSpace 2 IIRC(minus the millions).
Perhaps you should spend less time bashing others and more time working on those two projects. Oh yeah, when can we expect some results on that? Considering that 185th has been arround since i've been here (coming up on 3 years now), you'd expect something to have gotten done. But, since this is not the case, lets put that aside for now.
While you do have a point about the amazing appearing sister, you are sadly mistaken about the boat. http://www.swooh.com/peon/Demon442/Pictures/TWWVLB.jpg
-
Wind Waker kicks so much arse, especially in the way Link kills Ganon: Zelda shoots a light arrow at Link, who deflects it at Ganon with his shield, the arrow stuns Ganon and while he's stunned Link jumps high in the air and lands on Ganon while impaling his skull with the Master Sword

Actually, Freespace2 ain't that great. Its good. Its better than some of what came before, but its inferior to Tachyon (except for Mod support) and Iwar2.

You're right. We've gotten nothing done, but my question is why did you choose to insult the two projects I'm associated with? They're not my projects. I don't run them. I just model stuff for them. I DON'T EVEN PLAY THE GAME THEY'RE MODS FOR.

You've shown that you're either blind or stupid. I vote for both. You'll note that the only similarity between the pictures you showed is that A) they are boats and B) they have sails. You missed the important sail details (rectangular sail versus triangular, double crossmember vs single crossmember). You missed the important detail that viking longboats have oars while the King of Red Lions has none. You missed the part where long boats have, essentially, a prow both fore and aft and no rudder. The King of Red Lions has only one prow, as well as a rudder. You missed the fact that the viking long boats have no figure head, while the King of Red Lions has a RED LION HEAD figurehead. You missed the fact that the viking longboat is a VIKING LONGBOAT HOLDING TEN TO TWENTY VIKINGS while the King of Red Lions is a single passenger craft. Most importantly, you missed the fact that a Viking long boat uses a distinctly nordic nautical design while the King of Red Lions shows chinese design aesthetics.
Do you have trouble telling limousines from tractor trailors? tanks from motorcycles? hang gliders from biplanes?
Besides, couldn't you come up with anything more original than '**** you'? Even Vadar1 did a better job than that. Pathetic.
-
Why is flaming treated like a competition around here? Calling another person's flames 'pathetic' tells me that it's some sort of sad little game you guys play or somehow you're competing on some odd level. What up wit dat, as the saying goes?
-
Chill or be chilled.
You can talk about why you don't like a certain game all you want but this is somewhere between petulant and stupid.

-
Actually, DG, I was trying to provoke him further. I was rather enjoying being an ass. In case you haven't noticed, I like telling people they're wrong when they're wrong, especially when they're on blatantly obvious things, like the details of ancient nautical engineering in Europe and Asia. Its a weakness.
Sorry Maeg. If I get a vote, I'd call it 'stupid'. I'll try to keep it reined in.
