Be glad it's not the red 'un! :D
This is actually version two of a fighter I was working on earlier. I kinda stopped that one dues to scale problems (the guns and cockpit were, IMO, too big, and the thrusters too dinky.).
The poly count is prolly going to be around 1600. The body itself may not indicate it, but the thing I did with the thrusters can.

It's even got those funny little wings that stick out of the Hercs! :P
There'll be four thrusters, connected at prolly 45deg angles.

It'll have eight plasma/laser/glowy guns, two at each 45deg, like the engines. No missiles, since it's a small ship.
Given the thruster design (and small mass), it'd have good accel/manuverablililty, but it's armour would be somewhat lacking. Those little (hexagonal) bumps on the engines are 'shield projectors' or something.
Why the holes? I dunno, they look cool (lapse into technobabble about vectored thrusters)
Comments, questions, suggestions?

I like the top thing so far. I think the engines could be larger, but if you add some bits and streamline it, it could fit nicely.
The bottom thing, well, I have no idea what the hell it is.
I say drop the bottom mesh, and refine the top one. :yes:
Also, there's no way that's 1600 polies... even that dolphin-class fighter I made isn't any more than 500.

It needs some stubby little wing-ish things on the sides of those... engines? Otherwise, it looks very sleek and fast. I like it.

Yeah... Ithink so too. If you made it like a crosshair, or summat, but sweeped them backwards, so it looked as if it were going fast standing still.. MAn I can't wait to get my new Mobo... *curses the 7-9 day waiting period.*

This is something of what it might look like, in the end. They're still separate meshes, and I haven't added the guns yet. Again, suggestions, comments, questions?
Scale may still need work, but yeah.

the body looks a little bit out of perportion. To be honest, it looks like a carrot. You should make the nose a little shorter and a aft section a tiny bit longer. The thrusters are really kewl tho, cept they should be sized down mehthinks

Interesting. Think the polycount on those cylindircal sections on the engines would be a bit excessive compared to the bulk of the ship, though. Could probably use a 6 sided hexagon with a custom texture instead of a tube with hole, given how likely it is that the player is going to get close to it.
Nice concept, though.

I have to agree, unfortunately, it looks like a carrot. Maybe it's toooooo streamlined. Maybe I have to see a more finished product to really decide if I like it or not.

Triangle count : 1252, looks like I won't need to worry about hitting a poly limit, too much.
There, scaled the thruster clusters down some, thought they're still separate meshes at this point.
The thrusters are hexagonal cylinders, though still slightly hollow.
Scaled down the cockpit some.
Remade the front. Hopefully it's less carrot shaped, now. :P
Now I've got to consider missiles. :P
Still need to tack on the guns.
Any other comments, questions or suggestions?

Love the cocpit. Not much else though. I liked it better carrot shaped. Somethings amiss on this one. And I personally think theengine thingies could use a ditching...

And I think I will smooth the outter cluster/pylon things Just hold on a minute... Or two... Or more... <. .>
I also have the carrot cockpit put back in, just to see what the end result 'll be.

Now it looks like it's leaning towards a very symetrical Hurc, although it's still got those vertical thrusters. They'll have no bearing in the game play, but I'll say they're for barrel rolls and stuff.

For those who liked the earlier model development, I still have all the meshes and may branch this into two closely related models, 2A2 and 2A3.
The missile delivery system will prolly have the things shielded so the fore thrusters don't accidentally blow the ship up when the pilot fires a Rockeye. At least I don't think that's supposed to happen...
Anyone think 8 guns are too many? :P

Hey there, I can see those pics now. :) Nice design... :yes: Nah, 8 is fine. The Erinyes has 8, just don't make this ship too fast and maneuvrable, or it'll be invincible. ;)
