International Online Soccer (http://www.planethalflife.com/ios/)

This is an awesome active addictive mod for Half-Life. It takes the fps where its never been before. Its fully Steam compatible (gui everything). I would recommend that you all try it.

You've missed out. Speedball was one of the best sports games ever on the Amiga (well SpeedBall 2 was at least).

You have a ball. Ball must go in goal. Punch opponents and they fall down. This makes it easier. :D

Steam is Valve's new way of running HL.  Im still not sure just how this is better, but basicly, you have to DL the complete game you wish to play and you dont need the CD.  Since HL2 is coming out (hopefully) this decade, moving HL and its MOD's online is a sound move.  Since you'd be hard pressed to find any HL box set in stores, moving everything online makes it easier to get to the public and whatnot.

Except when they talk about a subscription charge to download HL2 mods over Steam..........I've heard word of a possible 3 versions of the the game - the 'Wal Mart' version with no mod support, a more expensive games shop version with mod support and the Steam download, with the option of paying monthly for the priveledge of DL-ing mods over Steam.

Not sure how true this is, or not - IIRC it hasn't been officially confirmed or denied.

Can you blame them? Look how much money valve would have made if they'd have done this for the original counter strike.

Also, please boycott Steam.  The service discriminates against dial-up users by not supporting the very[/b] long wait times to even check your version to the server's.  Add to that, an almost non-existant support team and very shoddy coding, and you've got an abomination of the internet.

Don't use Steam.  It's bad for you and the environment.  Long term use of Steam can cause: South African Ginvitis, Cancer of the eye-socket, Theactric performances of 'Escape from LA', and even Zombism.  Join us in making a Steam-Free world.

Why should anyone boycott something that's convenient and useful to them? Besides, Steam is perhaps the first attempt at a system of this scale. It is in Valve's financial interests to make it better and to appeal to as many users as possible.

If you don't like something, don't use it. Simple economics.

Uh, Sid, I don't know about you, but I've seen this scenario already, in FreeSpace itself - does Parallax Online ring any bells? Last time I checked, I had to reconnect 50+ times (not kidding here), 56k performance was so bad the lag must've been around 2000msec (and to think my friend and I were only 5 km apart, sae city, but with only Parallax as a proxy and no ideahow to setup FS2 to connect directly)... It's not a matter of a bad modem (the same gear pulled under 300msec in Quake II over GameSpy  ).
