i have an idea for a mission, but it requires a slow clunky capitol ship to keep up with the fighters during a persute of another capship. i was wondering if we could get sexp triggered cap ship afterburners.

isn't there something like "cap-max-speed" or something in the waypoint stuff where you can set a speed for a ship to something above the ship's max?

Nope, you can't go above the maximum specified in the table.

I think that's been proposed, but not implimented, or been given any indication that it will be implimented. The current cap-waypoint-speed would work to slow the fighters down to the speed of the other ship, but that's the only way I see things working.

well, you could offcourse make a copy from that ship's table entry, and use "change ship class" or something.
but a cap keeping up with fighters is unrealistic anyway, why would there be fighters if a cap can keep up.
