Title: Memory leak in FS2_Open?
Post by: Unknown Target on January 20, 2004, 09:55:12 am
Hey there. I launch Freespace 2, but even with Glowmaps and specular highlighting off, but with 2X Anti-Aliasing ON, I get a slowdown, and my system crawls to about a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 20 FPS in a mission with no enemies and about 10 friendly fighters. It usualy stays around the lower end of the spectrum.

My system is:

Windows 2000
512K of RAM
On-board Geforce2.

I'm thinking it's a memory leak, is that right?

Think about 212K

EDIT: No, HTL is disabled, and so is specular lighting. Which is what makes it so wierd, because the performance reflects having it and every other doohicky on.

Without HT&L youre bound to have a crappy framerate.

and if this is true, I wonder how you got Windows to run with only a half megabyte of ram :p

Can someone point me to the latest HTL build? Is it the one in the "What is the latest version of EVERYTHING?" thread (cause I already have it)?

With your vidcard I'd recommend that you put HTL on and turn antialiasing off.
