My first feeble attempt at a node map. I actually did it to help with the development of The Swarm War, particularly the writing that I'm doing. But I thought, what the heck I'll show it to the HLP lads and see what they think of its rubbishness! :D
The logo was done in TS5.1, the rest in PSP7. :)

Incidentally, don't laugh at the star system names. I suck at naming things that aren't warships.....although Battlestar Galactica fans should spot a BSG easter egg in there! :D
-
Would that be the Arisia Star Empire? IIRC, the ranking rep wet himself when he finally saw the Galactica.
-
Uh....no it wouldn't. I don't even know WHERE that came from! :D The Arisa Star Empire is my creation, along with the Taladir Independent State, the Yun Federation and of course the Karran Imperium. Nil Points! :D
Shall I give you a clue? Character name. :)

Spam ye not, this thread. Else dark fire shall availe ye, ye ken?
My bad, modernly put:
Stop spamming kids, or I lock it. Ok?
-
Quite nice :)

The names are a bit weird. They sound like if they were names from the LotR universe. Every name contains at least one R
The planet in the core does not look good. But the other ones are good.
I do not understand how you can do a thing like that in 10 minutes.
-
The planets! They are made of green bricks!
-
I mean the planet above the Karran Imperium text!
-
Cypra sounds very familiar... the C makes a k sound, right?
-
No, the Cypra is pronounced as 'Sypra.' Battlefleet Gothic players should be familiar with the Cypra Mundi shipyards. :)
As for the logo's planet, it's just stylised. Not meant to be realistic at all! It's a sphere with a Lunarcell map wrapped around it! :D
As for the LOTResque names, I dredged them up from a list of '1000 names for an RPG.' Believe me, those are some of the best there.....As for TopAce's 'every name contains an R' I'd like him to tell me where the R is in Sevesh, Tanis, Kanzia and Valigan! :)
As I said in the first post, I put this together purely for my own benefit. I'll be doing another one for the Taladir soon. I just thought you lot might like to see what my crazed little mind churns out ever so often! :D
Believe me, it's light years better than the first map I did! :D

The yellow things on either side of the earth-looking planet are too faceted. They need to be smoother. make them with some kind of spline or curve tool. I trust PSP 7 has some way of doing that, since even MS Paint does.
-
Lunacell?.. Bah.. ;)
it's nice tho..
-
To Carl: The logo was made in TS5.1, that means that the world, the two crescents and the stars ringing it.
As I keep mentioning, this is not supposed to go on display in a gallery - it's for my own benefit but I thought you'd like to see it. :)
-
Tanis...From Homeworld 2 first mission
It looks good btw!

I've not played Homeworld 2 for aaages.....besides, the only name in there that I definitely knew came from elsewhere is Rigel - launch controller of the Battlestar Galactica. :)
-
I thought the Arisian Star Empire was in the same area as Lunar 7 and the guy from Emergency!
-
Brick map's bad. I myself use a black sphere and a green wireframe sphere imposed on it.
-
To Liberator: ArisA Star Empire.
And I've never heard of those things you mention.

They're covered in Replicators. ;)
I like it, this kind of stuff is what I love to experiment with and develop new techniques.
