Title: Red Alert cut-ins
Post by: Akalabeth Angel on January 23, 2004, 08:39:54 pm
When playing some missions I've noticed that when Red Alert cuts in, there's no "DOWNLOADING NEW ORDERS" crap on the screen, how do I achieve this? I would go back and look at the mission to see what they've done differently but I can't remember which one it was, or even which campaign as I've been playing a few different ones at once.

Sometimes it will be overridden by "Primary Objective Complete" which appears in the same space.

Actually would it be possible to remove the box completely? It doesn't add much and there are quite a few red alert scenarios where you don't want it appearing.

That is unless a horde of red-alert message supporters turn up saying they love the message :D

Why not use the end-mission sexp.  If you also want to go straight into the next mission, just add the "no debriefing" mission flag.

Later!

Carrying over hitpoints, for a start.

End-mission is also a freespace_open sexp, which I am not using for my campaign.

Blaise has hit the nail on the head. Sure thanks to Persistant Variables I can do it without making a red alert mission but it would be very tedious to it just to remove one little message. So tedious that I doubt I would even try it.
