Would it be possible to add ambient sound points to ships like subsystems, or to assign specific  looping ambient sounds to subsystems? Imagine your sitting in your fighter lined up for launch in the hangar bay and you all kinds of background chatter, sound of machinery and the like echoing through the hangar bay. Anyone played the Unknown Enemy mod for Wing Commander secret ops and saw the ingame intro movie with the scimitars launching from the BW carrier knows how cool that is. It shouldn't be hard actually, since it's already possible with the engine sound. Comments? Ideas?

isn't  this already possible?

i am pretty certain i have seen something on this before. it might have been a suggestion, might have been implementation.

it might pay off to do a search, so you could get arguments out of the way before they start again.

I've made this suggestion before, it's in the post 3.6 thread. I think it's possible to implement, but it's just a question of the coders finding time ;)

yeah, I'd implement this if A) we wern't in a code freize and B) I didn't already have a full plate
