I think this is on the right forum....
Anyway, I reinstalled the game after accidently mistaking a major file with some thing else and deleting it. But now that I reinstalled it, my computer lags heavily whenever I play the game. Before I reinstalled I used the Very High setting and it ran quite smoothly, but now its lagging heavily. I tried lowering the details to High but it's just as bad.
Anybody know how to fix this?

Are you using the SCP? If so, what version?
Also, if so, Mr Moderator if you would be so kind as to move this to the appropriate forum.
-
No, I'm not using SCP.
Sorry, I'm new here and thought this would be the most appropriate forum.

No worries - try doing a full uninstall-reinstall. Might help.

defrag

If you need to defrag, use this. (http://www.grassheap.com/software.php?ID=4103)
-
i wouldn't do that if i were you. using a 3rd part defragger can do bad, bad things.
-
The "MS" defraggers have always been based on 3rd party tools. DOS and Win9x's were based on Symantec/Norton Speed Disk and 2000/XP's was based on Diskeeper. It won't hurt, espeially when the linked program is the source of Windows own internal defragger.
-
I use it because the Win98 defrag sucks @$$.
It starts out ok, and just keeps getting slower and slower. I once left it on overnight to see if it would finish and it was at 63% the next morning. BTW, the linked file is the free version of Diskeeper 7, more commonly known as Diskeeper Lite. It's Nagware, but we all have some of that.

KramCola, do you have any other programs open?

windows media player or any other mp3 playing device seems to slow down mine a lot of they are running... what are your specs?

I'll try that now.
defrag
I'll try that if the re-install don't work.
KramCola, do you have any other programs open?
No, only in the taskbar. I've got just as many programs open in the taskbar as I did before I re-installed, and I didn't have any problems then.

Haven't got any music devices open. I don't think my specs are the problem, but I'll post them anyway.
Windows XP
P4 1.6 ghz
GeForce 4 MX/MX 440
256 MB RAM

Very, very strange. This shouldn't really be affecting your performance vastly, but have you patched to v1.20? Btw, welcome to HLP. :)
