Title: About KOTOR...
Post by: TrashMan on January 29, 2004, 03:29:52 pm
A great game. Just finished it and loved every second of it!

I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a modding comunitiy for it somewhere or MOD's for download?

I would really like to take with me more than two companions, even if it means the enemy is twice as strong...

[color=66ff00]Too linear IMHO, didn't make me want to play it more than twice.

Artistically impressive though.

Force of Revan. :p

And I guess it's linear if you like playing one side of the game.

It is pretty linear, to be fair.  There's not really that much freedom - you either do one thing or the other, most of the time.  Often it boils down to not getting in a fight.

Of course, you could also say linearity is vital for a good story.

Just give it time. If for some reason this game isn't MODed after a time...it'd be the first Lucasarts game I know of not to be.

Besides,... the engine is very similar to the one Bioware used in Neverwinter Nights,... there's already a ton of MODers for that, so expect a few will be tinkering with KotOR to figure out what they can do.

and it could be worse,..you could be like me and stuck with only the X Box version..... forever waiting on that promise of downloadable material for the game

From what i read a while back in the KoToR forums (had a minor graphical glitch that i wanted to fix), Bioware altered the NWN engine specifically to make it as difficult as possible to mod (on the instructions of Lucasarts).

BASTARD! I HOPE THEY DIE!

*Games difficult to MOD don't discourage those with willpower. I recall many har-to-mod games that have been modded*

There isn't much freedom in what you do, but you CAN do in in lot's of ways.
this actually might be the very first RPG that I migh finish as a bad guy (I tried it with Balfurs Gate, but beeing evil just doen't do it for me...)

My bad... it was www.starwarsknights.com

Anyway, they got some cool mod's so far...alltough they still haven't figured out the model format (I think it's mdl, but there isn't a single 3D Tool that can open that. Probably compiled...they need to make a decompiler before they can make new models)

They could try using the NWN tools. There's an output script for 3DS Max and GMAX, as well as a few decompilers.
