Title: FS2_open dropping support for glide and voodoos in D3D
Post by: RandomTiger on February 03, 2004, 02:37:34 pm
As from after the next build fs2_open will have glide stripped out of the codebase. Apparently it didnt work anymore anyway so its no great loss.

Also D3D will not be supporting any cards which have a max texture size lower than 1024. This will mean no support for voodoo 2 and 3 cards.

About a month ago someone said that they were running D3D with their voodoo card in a poll.

I wasn't able at least since HT&L, if not before (I could see the green letters, but the rest was white).

Trying to remember... do you have a voodoo 2?
Does OGL still work?

I'm still able to test stuff, so it's not a problem at all.
btw yes I have a voodoo2, and IIRC OGL wasn't working when I made the tests, since it already required features not supported by the card (I think the minimum was a voodoo4, I remember I checked but it was months ago).
edit: glide was probably still working

maybe the comunity could pitch in 50 cents a person and if we get 100 people you  can get a card capable of running FSO

:/
I'm still able to test stuff with the g200 btw, I mean to put a model in game and verify it doesn't crash.
it'd be worse if I had a voodoo3 for example:p
