Problem: I can't select any weapons to decorate my lovely Ulysses. There are no weapons or missiles to choose from in the load-out screen (making me the proverbial sitting duck), and the mission opens fine with all ships and weapons in FRED2 (Open). I have the latest FS-port and Inferno-VPs in the main directory, as more or less instructed by the readme. All SAH-files are where they should be (except music.tbl - I'm trying to put some FL into FS2, yo :thepimp: ).
I remember that this happened with another campaign, but I don't remember which (on second thought, it just might have been Inferno itself - MIGHT being the operative word, mind you), nor can I conjure up the fix...
Now, don't you all go trampling each other in an effort to help me, I won't be able to test any solution for... six hours or so. Starting now. Not that I'd be able to play very much at that hour anyway.
-
You don't need the FSPort files. You need the EA and Core Inferno VPs, but I provided the ships I nicked from FSPort.
That said, have you tried making a new pilot? I think that might be it; old pilots don't always work well when using new weaponry and tables and stuff.
(I really wish I'd been able to get SAH in a VP, but when I tried I either got normal Inferno or normal Freespace 2. There was a tense moment when I was going to package SAH with the Inferno files required, but that would've been just crazy and I don't think it worked anyway.)

Put it in a vp with a name alphabetically BEFORE that of the Inferno vp files and it will work fine.

*is enlightened*

Indeed. That's what I did as soon as I downloaded the campaign. :)
-
EA? Well, I'm positive I have no EA.vp anywhere... *Relocates FS-port*
-
If you have the single-VP version of Inferno, that would work as well, I imagine. Either way, you need the files in the Core VP and EA Pack VP to play SAH, else you won't have the models/music/art etc. necessary.
-
single VP version works. *raises hand* :)

Speaking of SAH, has anyone beat the mission where you have to destroy the Majesty over Earth? The stupid Gagna we get for attacking has 7 Prometheus so the power drains after 5 shots, which makes it uneffective to fight off the Ulysses, which means that I die over and over. My wingmen also get thier a**es killed right away, and the EMP missiles that keep hitting me are super-duper annoying.
-
That was one of the badly balanced missions. I tried over and over again to solve it, and after about 20 times I just cheated my way through. It doesn't help that poor mission design prevents you from destroying the main beam as insurance. :doubt:
-
Pfah. Use your head:
Two missile launchers launching EMP missiles, both on the rear of the Empress - destroy them.
Ignore Ulysses and just fly around, launching Hell Fires and Hell Storms.
When reinforcements arrive, they ought to finish the Empress off.
'Sides, if you can blow up the main beam cannon, there's not much point in the mission. I mean, you'd launch a Hell Fire, knock out the cannon, and then the Empress'd bugger off, 'cause no reason to hang around if it can't *do* anything. Short mission...
Ah, one of the limits of being new to the community, I guess - no beta testers. Ho hum.
-
Having only the Inferno-VP present seemed to work things out. I'll see if any balancing-problem gets the best of me. Until then, I'm off to wonderland.
-
There are no balancing problems with SAH at all. Any reports of bugs or poorly-balanced missions are American lies!
*impossible mission drives by in the background*

Everyone should play Homesick first.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that campaign was so great :D

During the mission where you have to destroy the remains of the martian fleet when the last of the fighter wings show up the game crashes on me:mad:

Target kane544. Target locked. Fire.
:welcome:
Welcome to HLP. There are exits to the left and rear. Do not attempt to use them. Under your seat you will find empty beer cans, cookie crumbs, corpses of newbies, dog eared dungeon Porn mags left by Shrike... oh, and a Flamethrower. Unfortunately, we're out of napalm, so you'll have to bludgeon people to death with them.
In the event of serious conflict, there are plasma rifles in the forward locker, though these can only be opened by an Admin, [V], God, or Hyperintelligent shade of the colour Blue. If, for whatever reason, you find yourself crawling around in the ductwork, there's a better than average chance you'll encounter a Shivan. They're easy to spot with the five legs and all. If you're lucky, it's just Carl, who responds well to food rewards. If not, then at least you die quickly. Be aware that the entrance to the main control room is guarded by subspatial claymore mines.
Do not mention FS3. Karajorma's FAQ is your friend. Worship SCP team as Gods. Have a nice day.

Somebody else had this crazy problem. Try opening it up in FRED (EAC2-A8, I believe) and changing the wing name of one of Gamma, Delta or Epsilon to something like 'Sigma'. That may work.
-
There is a bug in FS2 that causes crashes is more than a certain number of ships are present in wings Alpha to Epsilon (i.e the ones that are shown on the HUD).
-
Blaise: Yep, that mission where you need to follow the pirate cruiser is a little too tricky to figure out by myself (thank the Lloyd you dumped the solution somewhere, or I'd be a pissed-off viking right about now).
I got that bug Karajorma mentioned above too (actually, I thought it was because there were too many ships in the mission at the same time, so I snuffed a bunch of wings, and everything was ok :) ).
All that aside, it was a good series of campaigns. Except for that "impossible" mission.

lol i will have to check these out, that is once i re-install my joystick, or better yet get a newone...
