Title: some noobish questions...
Post by: Zarax on February 11, 2004, 01:58:20 pm
All right, a search in wiki did not bring anything useful so i got to ask here...

1)How do i create ballistic primaries and get them working on ships?

2)How do i set specialized banks? (i mean, allow only specific weapons in a bank)

3) where can i download modelview outside VW? i keep dropping out of the queue in the download site...

1)

1. add cargo size for the primary
2. add the flag "ballistic" for the weapon
3. add $RearmRate before $Flags, just like with missiles
4. add the flag "ballistic primaries" to all ships that should be able to use the weapon
5. add $PBankCapacity: (x) to those ships (after Default PBanks)

I'll wait for other people to answer 2) and 3) :)

You can get modelview at www.freespace-2.com

For number two, you enter the name of the weapon in the $allowed Pbank: field...

same with s... no?

Or maybe he means certain weapons in one bank, and certain others in another.

Simply make more than one list.  ( list1 ) ( list2 )

Ok, question 4...
Can i make all this fancy stuff with a third primary?
My idea is to make some ships with two standard primaries plus one ballistic slot...

-EDIT-

Are 3pbanks supported in any build???
The 20/01 one does not support them...

-EDIT2-

They works, but there is a bug...
I can't see my banks and when i try to switch them i get this error...

Error: Exceeded supported number of primary banks.

File:E:\Languages\Visual Studio Projects\Visual C++\fs2_open\code\Ship\Ship.cpp
Line: 7978

This is not a bug.

It tells you right here.  The game doesn't support that many primary banks.

So the bank value was bumped up for capship turrets only then...
Too bad...

What do you mean, bumped?

I'm pretty sure it was never bumped.

SCP did support more primaries and secondaries.

I don't think the HUD actually has the visual support for 3 primary banks.

It doesn't.  That's why it was never supported.

I dunno, I remember about up to 4 primaries and 5 secondaries being supported. I think this should be working (if they didnt remove it) :doubt:

test test test. We are all swamped right now, if not bug testing and bug fixing, working on the WIKI. We could use a FREDDER to make missions to show off the new sexps. The Starwars conversion needs fredders also for a minicampaign.

I'm a mediocre FREDer, but i can make something decent given good scripting...
I can volunteer as tester if you need, even though i got a slow PC...

how slow?

Post by: Zarax on February 12, 2004, 03:20:36 pm
P3 1ghz with TNT2...
D3d HTL crashes and software has texture problems with 5-40fps performance.
I usually play on OGL with htl, and this brings back acceptable performance...
Before anyone asks, yes i've turned off all slower stuff...

oh well just get a new video card,  you can get a decent one for 147(powercolor Radeon 9600 256MB RAM however only has 4 texture pipelines)

Nah, that would be overkill...
I was thinking about of getting for a few bucks an old but good GF2 GTS, or may be to place a GF440MX...
From pure numerical stats they don't look much different anyways...

it is the direct x 9 capadability you are paying for. You would need it for half-life 2 and Doom 3. And possible in case of the remotest chance a 3rd installment of freespace.

Not so much for mentioning FS3 as for spelling my name incorrectly :D

Heh.  For the longest time I misread your name as kajorama.  It rolls off the tongue better. :)
