Mozilla FireFox 0.8 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) just recently came out. Features of the browser can be found by reading the press release (http://www.mozilla.org/press/mozilla-2004-02-09.html) :D The Mozilla Foundation has done some great work over the years and this browser I think is going to make some good competition over at Microsoft
-
hmmm. I might just give this a try.
-
Personally, I'll stick with the integrated Mozilla.
-
What's the difference?
-
I'm sticking with integrated Mozilla as well, at least until FireFox reaches 1.0 status.
-
It works okay(Firefox), it just messes up the colors on page designed specifically for IE.
-
I use Firebird 0.7, Firefox isn't in the stable gentoo tree yet.
-
I'm using the full version of Mozilla (1.6) right now. Didn't really like Firebird that much....
-
I actually don't know the differences between the two but what I do know is that FireFox will eventually replace the Mozilla Web Suite. Heres another 13 reasons (http://www.flexbeta.net/main/articles.php?action=show&id=32) why FireFox is a great browser.
Liberator what urls were those? My friends website is specifically designed for IE and the colors work out fine
-
I'll stick with Moz 1.6 for now. :)
-
*is using Firefox now*
it's nice and stable, even for a pre 1.0 build..
-
I'm using Firefox, and before that used Firebird. It's alright, although I seem to have lost all semblance of scroll bars from the browser window. Which I can tolerate, as I never use them apart from for estimating how long it'll take for me to read something. They'll come back some day.

Switch to the Homeworld skin.

i am using Explorer reguraly, damn MS has got me snared into thier monopoly web.

I use Slim Browser (http://www.flashpeak.com/sbrowser/). It is like a "mod" for Internet Explorer. It has all kinds of browser goodness like tabs, auto-form-filling, popup blocking, auto-login... I thinks its sweet... its fast cause it uses IE6 as its core and the toolbars are very customizable. So if you are "stuck" with M$ IE6, give this a try.
oh yeah  first post

Reminds me of good ol' NetCaptor (http://www.netcaptor.com/), which I used and recommended religiously until I switched to Mozilla.

It's a nice browser, infact I may switch from Opera to it!
Well yeah I use IE and opera mainly. Just depends on if what I'm wanting to do right then.
-
If you're switching from Opera, make sure you install the All-In-One mouse gestures extension:

I don't use the mouse gestures in Opera. :nervous:
And welcome Mr.Garibaldi

I regularly use back, forward, and duplicate window. It's just quicker than moving the mouse up or reaching for backspace.
-
*trying out FireFox*
*likes*
*tries a few extensions*
*really likes*
*tries one too many*
Darn impossible-to-uninstall-from-outside-the-browser extensions! Now I have to reinstall everything, add all the nice extensions, and avoid the one that made FireFox half on load! :hopping:

:nervous:
Incidentally, which was the straw that broke the camel's back?

I use a 5 button mouse :p ( and a 5 button plus tilting wheel mouse on my laptop :D ), no need for all those things then :D

Heheh installed and it won't show mw a scroll bar in the window. Might have been a glitch.
Going for my 6 month format now anyhow, gotta get a few drivers and the like. See you on the other side. ;)
Oh and Welcome Mr. Garabaldi and remember, HLP is a Psi corp. free zone so the only people messing with your head will be forum regulars. ;)

I use an 8-button mouse. Back and forth, yeah, I use mouse buttons for that. But when I'm using the graphics tablet, gestures are indispensable.

Gents, I'm runnin Firefox 0.8 and I've got plenty o' scroll bars. :wtf:
-
Vyper, what OS are you running? Mine loses its scroll bars in 98SE, I guess I could go downstairs and test it on my dad's laptop in XP. Not sure what Maeg is using.
-
Using win2k guys. Firefox is working OK now that I've formatted and reinstalled etc.

-
Win2k here up to SP4. Could be summat to do with it.

Nice... finally a place I can not be so paranoid in :nervous: lol
The FireFox allure is slowly pulling me in... I am split between Slim Browser and FireFox... I just don't know!
-
I say go FireFox. Its standards compliant. SlipmBrowser really isn't either slim, nor standards compliant, since it depends on the IE activeX object for rendering.

Funnily enough, an extension that I got to work without any hitches the second time around (after backing up my FF directory at a working state). ;)

-
That's the best extension out there, Sandwich. :)
I consider that, Enigmail and and the one that lets you click on non-linked text and treat it as linked, as absolutely essential.
-
Nice. :) Oh, btw, if anyone's curious, FF 0.8 works flawlessly on my XP box.
-
so, does it not kill frames anymore? doesn't get rid of the pics that won't show ( funny, I haven't gotr to see any red cross since I switched to mozilla ), does it stop doing all those anoying things mozilla do, to sum up? Coz I don't feel like installing a thing that'll change my life like the next minute to come will.

ditto;)

I decided to take the plunge and so far I'm absolutely loving it. About the only thing I miss isn't actually from IE, it's the autofill option from Google Toolbar. Does Mozilla have a plugin that can do that too?
