Yes! Finally I have set down and re-did the whole fighter. After 1 hour of hard work and a quick Lithium unwrapper texture job (the texure was done ages ago) this 690 poly beuty is allmost finished..

It looks very cool, indeed.
-
512x512 texture... it turned up pretty good for a guy who used Photoshop and Lithium two times in his life...
For some reason the texture doesn't show up in ModelView nor in FRED2, but it shows up quite nice in-game....Go figure...
-
Are you using a 32bit map, ie. jpg, tga or dds?
If so, Modelview and Fred don't support them ;) You have to create a .pcx file of the texture and put it in the maps folder along with the 32bit version, and Fred will use this, SCP will use the hi-colour :)
-
Just a simple PCX....have no idea if it's 32bit or not...
-
modelvies and friend don't like maps that are not 256*256. well, modelview does, from times to times, actually, but it depends on things I don't know.
-
nice work :D
are you going to make a custom shinemap for it? :D
-Grug
-
It's kinda hard to judge anything bar the basic shape with all that spec lighting in there...
-
G-g-g-orgeous!
-
Can we get few more shots from others views?
-
More pics! Download! Etc.!
I like it :D

Probably is uncompressed....although I'm sure 32-bit PCX's shouldn't work in game, so dunno...
NB: I think openGL (IIRc the API used by Modelview) may require textures to be in powers of 2 to display properly - I had a problem with a model in FRED that I tracked down to that.
Unfortunately, I don't know the source of that info, so I can't actualy check I'm not talking out of my arse here.
-
Erm...actually I have a TGA(32 bit) and PCX. The TGA show's in game and fine... the PCX shows in Modelview. Nothing show's up in FRED, but I don't care...
I'm working on a even better texture now (shouldn't take long).
I will post new pics soon, and as for download...WE'll see...but probably yes...No...make that 100% YES!!:D
(Oh..and I still have to make the shield ANI for it...Now how did that go?...dunno...)
EDIT: If anyone's willing to help me with the Shield Icon, let me know...
-
Trashman, isn't that one of the ships you contributed to the 158th?
-
Nope... I offeredit to LtNarol, but he said the design doesn't quite fit. So he wanted to change it and I said o.k. He fiddled with it and made a model that in the end was rejected...so.. nothing..
EDIT: Allso, I have no idea how to make the loadout screen. I will need help with that and the Icon..

Sesquipdalian has a tutoral for interface art.

Sesquipedalian's Interface Art Tutorial
http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/scroll/misc/interfacetutorial.zip
This tutorial is very useful.
This has all informations and data for making interface arts, such as loadout screen.
Try follow this tutorial, I did so when I made my Hercules Mk.3.
One more thing, don't forget editing HUD.TBL,
if you forget this, shield icon will not be displayed on main HUD.
Following tools may be required for making some ANIs used by interface arts.
These tools also very useful.
Descent Manager ANIBuilder32

Descent Manager ANIView32

I have all necesary programs... Haven't made an shiled Icon in a looong time...forgotten how it goes...The tutorial will serve well to refresh my memory...
Anyway, since I'm allready gonna make a new texture, I was thinking of perhaps changing something on the model..
I was thinking bigger guns... let the Shivans cry out before they're ripped apart ..muahahahahaha
Any toughts...?
----------------------And yes...the ship stats:
Lenght: 20m
Speed:90
Max speed:120
Turn rate: 4.0, 4.0, 4.0
Power output: 10
Shields:550
Hull 285
2 primary banks(4 mounts)
2 secondary (80, 40 capacity)

"The Phoenix was developed by a joint team from Tryton Dynamics, Subach Ins. and Han-Roland corp. This advanced fighter is eqipped with two FR-3L Nova reactors which grant him an immense power output, thus compensating for weaker shields. With high top speed and a high weapons compability, the Phoenix is the final word in fighter design. Usage is restricted to SOC sqadrons only."

Corrected and improved. Aren't I helpful?
-
Thanx....I didn't even bother to check....
Anyway, I tested it and it's shield recharge 3 times faster than normal...one can take you out only by a sustained barage(very dificult) or a uber weapon..
-
So, the point of it is...
-
The reason I want to work on it a bit more..the texture doesn't look that good...and it aint that good aligned either..

EDIT: I H8 SWOOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You mis-spelled your address. Fix0red. :p // Setekh
-
I love your rework of it. Nice one. :)
-
the problem wasn't the adress...for some reson the image wouldn't complete the upload (it would come to 60% and then stop).
I finally managed to upload it ...
Buh...I'm working paralel on the Phoenix for FL and FS2...so the final version might take a bit of time (got exams tomorow), but it will be far better than that pic above!
-
Looks purtty...
umm...
I think the max. speed should be higher. Maybe 140? If you're getting that much of a large power output then let the engines rip! :D

Yeah, that might have been an issue too, but I checked the link and it pointed to /peon/Tarshman. :p
