The same as i started a terran superjug i have also started a vasuden superjug. Once again based loosley of the old cruiser the Aten. I have a basic mesh for you to eveluate and recomend changes (besides fore polies) as they will come later.
With a count of 160\158 with some unstable geometry that will be fixed later.

What do you think?
-
not bad, tho, might be better if u turn mesh smooth off...
also maybe some more detail vertically? seems a bit flat...
but yeh good work so far :D

-
like my terran superjug its low on detail right now so i can get a feel for what you people think. detail comes soon after i know where i am going to be going
-
ah k,
well maybe the fins at front or rear, maybe come up and out a little more? like a shark fin kinda thing...
just a suggestion...
or even so its like a shell over the exposed inner bits of the fighter bay and some of the other vital systems...
keep up the good work :D

Needs a lot less vertical symmetry. Grug's right, fins are good.
A couple of dorsal fins, placed well back along the hull, and maybe a different shape for the ventral section?
-
Boewolf you realy like doing Jugs:D
Center of ship need to be liter fit and add some fins on top.
-
c914 what do you mean when you say Center of ship need to be liter fit??
anyway been playing with fins.

I have experianemted withe the two side fins on different angles but it just didn't look right when looking from the front.

Not all that Vasudan.
-
Its starting to remind me of a Centauri Battle cruiser.

well i never sayed i was a good vasuden modeler

i mean this:

I think it's too symmetrical on the top / bottom.
-
I'd say, "call that a Terran/Vasudan destroyer, it doesn't feel totally Vasudan...."
If you want to make something that looks Vasudan, make something that looks like a cross between all 3 capship classes, a bit of Hatshepsut, Aten, and Sobek, give it a graceful, organic-like structure, with launch tubes like the Hatshepsut (make alot of them, maybe 3 on each side) and possible give it 2 arrow head fronts, one on top of each other connected to the body by 2 necks. Just use the existing Vasudan Models (from FS1, FS2 and Inferno...cause Inferno is basically FS3) and form you're on ship around them!

öools öole a centauri Primus Class IIRC
-
actually it would be more vasudan if you reverse the ship, with the fins being on the back
btw when you post an untextured WIP shot of your ship, always use faceted shadingsm to let others view the geo
-
What i would like to see is something like an Hatshepsut placed on top of an Het-Ka, reskinned appropriately and with the Het-ka frontal spikes removed... You would get a kickass vessel with an unber main gun (the Hatshepsut part)...
Ok, i'll stop smoking...
-
Yeah they beat me to saying it, the first draft did look a lot like the Centauri Primus from B5, but so what? he he, add more details and make the form more flowing , that would help make it look more organic instead of the sharp arrow body feel. For an example I like to think of the Mentu as like a Beetle. Try to picture a Vasudan ship as inspired by something that WAS once alive. Terrans on the other hand are obsessed with "form follows function". Vasudans on the other hand are not so rigid. You could say their outlook is more minbari like, as Aesthetics are as important as engineering...
-
round the front off a little bit, a single 'neck' ending with a larger front end.. make it a little more 'rounded' in the general body of the ship..
-
I do like it, keep working on it. Actually, it reminds me distantly of a Goa'uld super-destroyer... :)
-
Hok. Been playing with the fins. Will probably use those results for a completely different modle. I will also probably work on new fins all together for this project. Anyhow, also been working on the body.
Body A
(http://users.ncable.com.au/gtbernaldo/pics/VSJ/V-SJ-body-a-w.jpg)
Body B
(http://users.ncable.com.au/gtbernaldo/pics/VSJ/V-SJ-body-b-w.jpg)
I tend to like body A more than B.
By the way. which end are you all calling the front? I was inteending the end with the two spikes to be the front if anyone was mistaken into thinking that it was the back.
-
I like A with the spikes being the front. But I don't know if it's Vasudan. Alien, yes, but not Vasudan, to me.
-
I was going to resize and add more turrets and a fighterbay to the aten modle but i can never get the modle to be stable in TS. So i had to scrap the streight modifying of the hull quite early. So i started this hull instead.
-
Heh, it's easier just to copy the aten design. I made a pre-aten carrier for TVWP that is similar enough to tell it's related, but still different. :)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Ahh! It's LLivingLarge Reincarnate! ;)
-
What would you think if i removed the fins and added six leg type structures and mounted turrets underneath them?

I'd call it the SSJ Punk'd.
:drevil:

I havn't worked much on the old designes but i have got a new start for you all to evaluate.

Before yo all start sayingthe details are not there and there is too much details on the top and engine bays, they started out being the main hull but i thought they might make a good carpilarace for a vas capship. The rest is still in basic stages.
-
:ick:
None of that odd plating please.
-
IMO, either shorten the neck a bit, or widen the main body a bit, as it looks a bit flimsy up there.
Later!
-
Stretch = :wtf:
-
:wtf:
some kind of typhoon
:ick:
-
get rid of the long "arms" and the plating, and thicken the 'neck' a little too.. give the ship some "depth"..
-
It's a stretched Typhon. Yay.:blah:
-
I like the mian body Typhon offshoot thing, BUT the arms are way too long and next should be reduced by half. Don't worry about deforming the mian model so much as you can just increase OVERALL size to differentiate it. Concentrate more on the little details, especially the textures. That way when seen side by side it's not far fetched that they retooled some typhon yard(s) and thus it is like 90% identifiable as a large typhon but WAY more bigger and powerful.
