What was you're favorite part of Freespace 3?
-
The Ancient zombie army, afterall, they had to stay true to the fact that the ancients were extinct.
Also, discovering that in fact there was only one Sathanas, but its deadly Bosch beer vapor(tm) gives the illusion that there was a massive fleet.
-
The attack by undead Ancients was classic. And the easter egg mission with the raid on the Bosch Brewery was well worth sitting through six hours of credits for
-
The battle between the Colossus Mk II and the Sathanus was rather unorthodox
-
What, you mean they way they smacked each other with giant steel beams?
-
yea. it took place in the year 28343458 so they should have something more advanced
-
remember big ole 2X4 with a nail
-
Well I heard the Dead Frozen Goat of Justice⢠launcher was in there, but as a hidden reward thingy for completing the Capture the Midget misison on Quantum Delta+BD setting
-
??? FS3?Ermm....What is tih all about?
*hides in shame for not knowing*
Bosch Beer? Wasn't that in Deus Ex Machina?
-
It was cool when they found bosch half mutated into a shivan.
-
Then those rabbits ate him. That was just classic, a lovely touch. I was starting to get bored until that moment.
-
I have to admit though, finding out that command was a monkey in a human suit was not especially surprising.
And what about that old cliche where they attacked earth using a meteorite the size of guatemala composed of 99.7% fat free cheeze? That's been used sooo many times.

-
Yeah, but you've got to admit that the gigantic cheesegrater they towed in for defence was original, if nothing else.
-

Granted.
Yeah, it was cool how they actually grated washington DC off the face of the planet after the inital attack. DX9's effects capabilities really shone there.

-
My favorite was when Earth transformed into a giant battle robot that didn't actually have any weapons, so you had to defend a small part of the planet.
-
Nah. You're all forgetting the first deployment of the Holy Hand Grenade over Vasuda.

The freespace being three... Not two or four
-
Or the tell-all ending with the guest star voice over by Doctor Phil as the King Shivan.
-
The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch? Sure, I remembered it. It's just the rabid killer rabbit spinoff from that was so much more... invigorating.
-
I dunno, the revelation towards the end that the Shivans were just the next stage in evolution for Republicans kinda threw me off.
-
The worst part was the Human/Shivan crossbreed Marines.... did they really have to put the beam weapon there?
;)
-
Well, the positioning is perfectly logical. After all, the firing mechanisms were already in place, it was a simple retrofit.

hey man, the virus was programmed to only affect old white people.

problem is it took a few minutes recovery time before it could fire again.
-
That explains why they switched to women marines in the end, I suppose.
-
Y'all need serious help.
-
I take it you haven't been able to obtain a copy yet, then?
-
Not suprising. I've seen FS3 going for 100'000 bucks on Ebay. You just can't get it any more, and all because THQ advertised it way too much. Bastards.

I knew we'd regret the day they burnt 'FS3' onto the moon with a high powered laser.
-
And supernova-ing all those stars to spell out 'FS3 pwnz WC' was just plain extravagant
-
Especially when the rulers of Omicron Pegasi V (or was it VI?) demanded they eat every human child for compensation.
Just as well they went with Injury Lawyers Direct and lost, I guess.
-
I think the best part of FS3 was when Bosch came back with all those neat shivans ;7

We're wayyyyy beyond that now. ;)

You just know some newbie is gonna read this and scream..
OMG FS3 IS OUT!??!?????!
-
To which we will reply 'Yes. Yes it is.'

Beyond that, theres no GTVA left. go figure.
-
I enjoyed the exposition where we found out that the Shivans were an elemental hive mind of genetically engineered robots created by an ancient race to destroy the universe and protect life from subspace.
And when I saw what was inside those suits - well, I'll never look at mime artists in the same way again.
-
I loved the part where Command finally decides to send us in ALone since they know all the other wings are nothing but sheer crap when it comes to fighting shivans..
Also another part was when Command finally decided to destroy hte Bosch beer factories - a classic, not to mention the other pilots were cheering over the free beer!
-
I enjoyed the Vasudan and Shivan rave/orgy scene in the beginning. Hard-core to the max!
Too bad they had to shoot the dog at the end though. I cried.
-
Wait a second... noone else liked the Flan!?
-
No.
It was kind of funny that the world was saved by a single Terran Huge Turret, though.
-
The part where the Shivans brought back Elvis was a real shocker!
-
Erm....and what was that about it being bad to OD on spacecrack?

Oh yeah, the Flan. Frickin' awesome. I guess it was just so much else going on at the time...
-
you DO know there is no FS3 ;)
-
Oh so you're one of those ones that didn't get it...
:: backs away slowly ::
-
*looks at Ashrak and shakes head in disappointment*
I'd have to say that the least surprising part was when they revealed that Michael Jackson was a Shivan.
I liked the flan but I was too distracted by the dancing monkeys.
-
Speaking of dancing, the asteroid shaped like a dancing moose was a nice little touch

BLASPHEMER! Burn the witch!

-
Which reminds me that the burning witch behind the one window of Sathanas Mk. 42 was a fun idea.
Of course one was albe to slaughter it after getting in by blasting through the wall... god I loved Geo Mod in that game.
-
*Another random n00b comes in*
What FS3 is out?!?! I have to go get it! When is freespace 4 coming out?!?!
*this has been a pointless n00b warning post*
:p :p
-
DUD3!
F$4??
SW33T!!
-
*stabs carl*
*realizes he just stabbed a shivan*
*runs*
-
Have I mentioned already that you guys need helwp? 'Cause you do. You really really really ridiculously do.
-
I dunno, despite the fact that they need helwp, it's ridiculously funny listening to them in this state. :D
-
What state?
-
My favorite part was when comannder Snipes said: "Dive! Dive!"...And jumped into the pool..and then the Enterpreise came trough the cross-dimensional rift and appeared right in the pool.
Or when the flak gun took out Sathanas number 89...or when the Mega-Ultra-Super Earth Defense Beam Cannon was deployed out of the bunker...and crumbled together becoause of a loose bolt...
-
Do you do humour, too?

The state of insanity.

Atleast the Grill Room is still on Deneb.
-
Headz' bar n' grill.
-
ROFL
I quite enjoyed the inflatable Deimos, I really want to get inside the new VP files and get that rasperry noise it made when you shot it.
-
they used too much looney tunes sounds
even though it had potential in the beginning, seeing those lucys in Shiva battle go "phiish-poing" instead of "kaboom" was a little depres
oh no whats going on in this th
-
The Shivan Care Bear of Ultra l33t d00m was the best part.
-
My favorite part of FS3 is the special feature on the DVD that lets you access all of the Osmonds great hits. I cant find it though.
Oh, and when Admiral Bosch got it on with the captain of the Phoencia on the Iceni Mk2
-
and the DVD with the concept art, the high poly models of all the ships, and the first season of fraggle rock.
-
That Japanese pop music really adds to mood, you know.
-
Especially when they changed the music from Japanese pop to Finnish heavy metal.:D
-
which makes it even more unitelligable then the stuff i see on fuse. as if thats possible. At lease Uranium Classics are good about 95% of the time
The cutscene where Bosch and his crew are playing a game of basketball against the Vasudan boarding party was also pretty funny. The zogs have a 2 foot height advantage and you can get some really sweet dunks in low gravity.
-
my favorite part was when the whole SCP team got bought out by Microsoft and we all got $500,000.00 and someones soal that they had a few extra of.
of corse Kazan _had_ to be... dificult...
-
And nobody would have expected for the coach of the Terran team to pull that gun outta the basketball and take away the 2-foot advantage.
-
also it was a good that that bosch cloned an instant all star team with Magic, Mike, Bron, Wilt, and Bird. I haven't seen such good writing in years

give him your lunch and he will leave you alone.
-
OR, give him yourself and he will leave your lunch alone... ... if you're lucky.
-
I can't believe no one's mentioned the Spacecrack mission yet! You know, the one where you're all high and the nebula keeps changing colors, and the enemy fighters look like pink elephants.
-
Oh, and you also forgot the final missions, where the last terrans combined their destroiers and evoked "VOLTRON V"... THAT scared the hell out of the Shivans...
-
To think, at one point this thread was funny.
-
It was?
Could've fooled me.
-
Hey. for once it wasn't my fault. :D
-
We'll find some way to blame you.

Personally, I saw him sucking the humour out with a straw.
But I never said a word.

I personally thought it was a bit contrived that Alpha 1 had to throw the One Ring into the supernova to defeat the Shivans, myself....
-
He couldn't do anything different with that Vasudan after him wispering "my preciousssss"
-
I personally love it when Spaceball 1 turns into mega maid and sucks all the shivans from shiva

Yeowch!
-
I think that actually Spaceballs 2 was to be entitled "Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money" according to Yogurt. :p
But in leiu of that, TPM works just fine too. :D
-
Dunno if it's because of the dubbing, but I really found spaceballs pathetic :doubt:
-
Spaceballs is the best SF comedy EVAR!!!!
OTHER GOOD COMEDY:
The funny part of history
Hot Shots 1&2
The movies with Leslie Nielsen
*I see your Schwartz is as big as mine!*
-----
*DARTH HELMET:"Before I destroy you, there's something you must know....I?m you'r father's brother's mother-in-law's cousain's sister's boyfriend ...roommate!"
LONESTAR:"So..does that exacly make us?"
DARTH HELMET: "Nothing...which is what you are going to be!"
