So, what's your all-time favorite cap ship from space "sims"? My vote would definately, without a doubt go to the CS Krasnaya of Starlancer, it's big, it's ugly, and it's made in the USSR, what more could you want? :D
-
Debris. best ship ever.
edit: but were I to be serious, I'd say I like the Deimos best.
-
he's right, you just can't go wrong with a flying chunk of debris..
-
Especially Anubis Debris. Whoa nally!
-
Hmm.. nice question. Tricky mind you. I have several so in no special order...
1. The Deimos of FreeSpace2 - Large, grey and built to do a job that it does well.
2. The Orion of FreeSpace2 - Equally large and carries the feel of a carrier exceedingly well.
3. CS Pukov of Starlancer - Also large, also grey (see a pattern here?) and built like a brick **** house.
4. ISDII, SSD and any Calamari ship from Star Wars - X-Wing Alliance.
5 - Adv. Cruiser of I-War 2.
6 - Reinhland Battleship of FreeLancer.
7 - Taidian Heavy Cruiser of Homeworld.
There's probably more but I can't think them up right now.
-
Taidan Destroyer is the first that springs to mind......
Narn heavy cruiser too....
still thinking..
-
Mmmm...cruisers!
Specifically the Deimos and Sobek.
Then there are Mon Calamari ships from just...well...anywhere. Mon Calamari ships are cool. :p

It does mean red.
Like Krasnaya Octobyr. Or however it was spelled (can't remember Russian spellings too well).
MMmmmmm...Clancy....:D
-
Tom Clancy Rulez!

My favorites:
Omega class destroyer. (http://www.b5tech.com/earthalliance/earthallianceshipsandvessels/earthcapships/omega/omegaviews.jpg)
Warlock class advanced destroyer (http://www.b5tech.com/earthalliance/earthallianceshipsandvessels/earthcapships/warlock/warlockviews.jpg)
-
1. The Guardian of Orion (MOO1/2) - Alright, so MOO's a strategy game, but nothing beats an ancient autmated capship with blackhole generators, aptly named death rays, etc.
2. Hiigaran Battlecruiser (HW2) - Quad ion cannon arrays with point defense pulsar guns, a fighterbay, tactical FTL jumps, cloak field and gravity well generators, what isn't there to like?
3. Dreadnought class corvette (I-War) - Manuverable, interesting shield mechanics, able to engage forward and rear targets at the same time.
4. Waterloo class cruiser (WC2) - There's nothing like seeing capship v.s. capship warfare in an old sprite-based game.
5. Deimos class corvette (FS2) - Yes it's a brick, but it is a very functional ship that can hold its own.
-
GVCv Sobek
But then again...
The Pillar of Autumn was a cool looking ship
(I'm surprised noone else said it)
I liked those Covvy ships too.
-
Gonna have to suprise you all and say the Kennedy-class carrier from S:AAB. And the SDN, which we saw for all of ten seconds
-
Oh right. You're the lone S:AAB fan in the world...
-
the enterprise, just because it's the enterprise.
-
Tachyon-class patcom from IW2 (not really a capship, but close), and the Sovereign-class from ST, specifically the Nemesis version.
-
Keeping on FS universe, my bet is on the Iceni.
Fast, compact yet capable to go toe to toe against a destroyer.
-

actually.... (http://tgu.org.uk/users/saab/)
I quite like the Omega too. Has a brutal, functional look.
-
I don't understand how the Iceni could take on a destroyer. Does it have big beams or anything? Meh... seems more of a cruiser to me.
-
Technically Iceni's a corvette, though most people refer to it as a frigate for some reason. It's just a particularly tough corvette
-
The Enterprise - D
Diemos Corvette
Orion Destroyer
Aeolus Cruiser (its a good ship - just needs some better textures!)
The Hades Destroyer (that thing is just.....i dunno)
the Dreadnought Class Corvette (I-war)
The Destroyers from I-war 1(those things were MEAN!!)
The Cruisers from I-war 1(huge, bad-ass and DEADLY! Imagine seeing one of those go against an Orion or a hecate!)
-
....Admiral Bosh's command frigate, designated the NTF Iceni....
seems even V couldn't decide. The Iceni nailed that Sobek during the first SOC mission with little fuss so it may be a little powerful to be a corvette
-
Fine. Whatever. It's NOT a destroyer.
-
Hmm. Well given V's screwed up naming system, they may have decided that a frigate was basically a super-hard corvette. But don't forget the Iceni was a one-off custom job designed partly by Bosch, so it'd be built tougher than ships of the line.
-
Where did Bosch get the money for his Iceni venture anyway? Was it originally a GTVA project that he was in charge of and stole?
-
I believe that's the storyline, IIRC.
-
And table wise it's got 90k HP and heavy beams... definitely nearer to destroyer than corvette.
Bettlecruiser equivalent?
-
The Iceni was built at Polaris ship yards, under the Admiral's supervision, after the rebellion. He was a fleet Admiral so he must have had a fair few resources.
ETAK was a defunct GTA project.
-
(SW) Eclipse - (SW) Imperial-Star Destroyer - (ST) Sovereign - (FL) Liberty's Destroyers - (HALO) Pillar of Autumn :D

It's got BGreens, which puts it in the Destroyer category. It can broadside with two, so it's got some heavy firepower.
-
Where was the Colossus built? Maybe Bosch was siphoning off some of the raw materials for his own uses...........

no, it's right in between. deimos has 80k, orion has 100k.

Nothing beats the Super Star Destroyer. Nothing.
-
If we're counting corvettes, its the Advanced Patcom from Iwar2 for me. The Raynor is a close second, for obvious reasons. Oh, and all the capships from Starlancer.
-
Hey mikhael, the Adv Patcom with turret fighters, or with the heaviest PBCs you can find and Quadpack Launchers?

Bah. After you're done with the Tug, leave those T-fighters behind unless you REALLY need independent wingmen. Right now I pack three QL-PBCs and three RF PBCs, with two quadpacks full of the best dogfighting missile I can get (or deathblow remotes). Later, I'll replace two of the QL-PBCs with Neutron PBCs and the RF PBCs will become H-PBC or AM-PBCs.
