(caught from the CGR (http://www.christianguitar.org) forums)
Today, I had a great conversation with a friend who I hadn't talked to for weeks. She'd just recently returned safely from New Zealand, where there are currently floods - which is bad, but she's safe, which is good. :)
-
Good to hear!!!!
Today's reason to smile for me: ...

..
Well, I'm sure something will come up.
-
Something always does. Just don't forget to look for it.
-
today's reason to smile:
I got UT2003.
But, it doesn't have a cd-key.... Which it should have, cuz it's legal.
-
Today's reason to smile:

Nice thread :)
Todays reason to smile: I picked up Red Dwarf Series 4 DVD on the way home from work today.

Ah, yeah:
today's reason to smile: nothing bad happened to me :doubt: ( well, yet )

Nasty cough you have there an0n ;)
I would if I knew how.

Funny you should mention that........ (www.fattonys.com/dvdpack.zip)

Todays reason to smile:
I finally became an official Outrider for Games Workshop, got the cool blue T-Shirt. I also found my lucky coin! :D
-
I hesitate to ask but........[hesitation].......Why is it 'lucky'?
-
You don't know where it was before he found it ;)
-
Heheh! Wouldn't you like to know? :D
Well, its lucky, cause I found it one day in the street. But what was odd was that it had a four leaf clover on both sides. Then after that, I made a rather good short film that everyone liked. Now I keep it in my pocket where ever I go. :D

blue? aren't they supposed to be red? :p
-
Red is for GW Store Staff. Outriders are blue and work directly for Games Workshop, not they store they're in. You could almost call it a gopher job. IE, they ask me to go someplace instead of a staff guy, or were used in Grand Tournaments as judges and such. Then we go to deparment stores and give demo games, and are pritty much representatives of GW in general. Plus, you get paid in either cash, or get double pay in GW product. And oh man is that a sweet option... :D For two days work I got a New Brettonnia army almost 2000 points large. :D Its a sweet deal, and doesent feel like working. And now I can pritty much do my hobby for free.
-
You, sir, are a git. And I'd like to be you.
-
Heheh... Then I shouldn't mention about the special Christmas Gifts we get... Or our trip to the GW Studios in Notingham... :D
-
I'd so steal that life-size space marine

Heh... It doesent "quite" work that way. :D Why don't you save up and buy a forgeworld Tigershark instead? That thing is ludicrous sweet!! :D But I'm a 40k man myself actually. Slowly growing my Necron force, to epidemic proportions. And saving my own cash for a pylon. That thing is bloody amazing. Oi, how many Warhammer players do we have here anyway?
-
I've got a vast army of assorted elves, all of which are in desperate need of repainting. I'd actively play Warhammer if I didn't own a computer

The thing is really too expensive. might be resin, but still, compared to a garage kit of the same size, it's really overpriced.
Plus I still have a lot of stuff to paint already, haven't finished my crisis suits, must have a handful of firewarriors left, and I'm not talking about the goblins, lizardmen, etc etc :p
-
I hear ya. The joy with the necrons is that they're bloody easy to paint. But you can't really make them look any different. Hence the reason I got the brettonians. But now I'm taking too long to paint them. I always take so damn long to paint, cause I always want to use blending. Yeah its looks good, but hell, it took me a week to get my Trebuchet done. With the necrons, I can get a box of 12 done in 1½ hours.
-
I've seen some neat sky blue necrons, f you really try, you can make them different, and not cheesy at all.
Yeah, I spend a lot of efforts on my minis too, since I always loose ( well, at battle. at 40K I win a lot, but dunno, at battle, I seem to be cursed, my dices always betray me, and with orcs and goblins, bad dices make you lose, whatever the veterans say ), at least, I can say my army is the most beautiful on the table :p
Ah, darn, I thought I had a pic of my army uploaded, but no. Only pic I have to show my l33t painting skills is of an anime chick garage kit.
-
I have no reasons to smile today. Maybe tomorrow.
-
I wasn't very smiley today until I was sent this (http://nodewar.penguinbomb.com/saab/blah/Theme%20-%20German%20Pokerap.mp3), which is possibly the greatest piece of MP3 encoding of all time
[EDIT] Everyone download this (http://nodewar.penguinbomb.com/saab/blah/80s.zip)

My reason to smile today:
Figuring out an odd SEXP scripting bug in FRED that prevented a bloody goal from being completed. Took me ~ 7 Hours, a lot of nerves and I think I also lost a few brain cells here & there.
But... It is solved.
:)

It's just turned tomorrow here today... er... Well, you know what I mean.
Another reason to smile!

I got into my school musical randomly. After auditioning twice and being turned down twice, the producer saw me in the hall today and said that they wanted me in.
And so now I'm dancing with an extremely good looking girl in Grease.:D

Anyway, new reason to smile today. I just re-strung my guitar with a brand new set of steel strings - it's all shiny and it sounds awesome. At least, for the next couple of weeks. ;)

Hey, nice Genryu! What model is it? Got a photo of it? :D
Venom, I swear, if you do have a holiday over here, I'm not going to let you within eyesight of any of my female friends. :p

You know, I'm like that on the forums, but in real life, I'm a total looser with girls.

Bah. You're French. :p

Todays reason to smile:

Today's reason to smile: I read a map containing the various bad jokes our teachers have made. I smiled a lot

Yeah, what's with you folks in Canada? Actually, I'm thinking you might be the first to melt once you're off the plane. :p
New reason to smile. Getting a buttload of driving experience before uni starts, right now I'm sitting on 10 hours or so. That's 20% of the way before my licence. :)
-
While getting braces put on my back molars tommarrow will suck, I get out of school for it. Probably a whole day too. Which conveinently means I'm not allowed to go to track practice. Damn.

Hey, I just happen to have lots of friends who are currently overseas. Pre-uni travelling! :p
Today: just went to an engagement party for a friend I've had since I was about 7. Seeing lots of old friends again, that was great fun. :)
-
it was hot, and we had airconditioning, church tomorrow- gonna see friends, going to school, going to be a doctor...
good reasons to frown.
hang on, i think i've got the two threads mixed up.

This time my render went through suceessfully, altho a slight adjustment turned it into a 8 hours render :)
-

Any chance of putting it up for us to see? ;)
-
Okay, a few new reasons today in fact. :)
1. Got a Tiramisu cake, and ate it after dinner. I don't even like coffee, but I really like this cake. Had seconds, too.
2. Borrowed a DVD with a live concert by Tommy Emmanuel from friend. Emmanuel is officially Australia's most innovative acoustic and electric guitarist, and probably near the top of the world in that kind of area. An awesome two hours to watch.
3. Currently watching the second episode of the third series of 24. I love 24. :D

Good luck to ya, I've had abysmal experiences with networking. Surfing wireless would indeed be a reason to smile, though.
My reason to smile: tomorrow, a busy day, but it's gonna be a good one. University orientation, visit my favourite bookstore (not very close to home), and a driving lesson. :)
-
Today's reason to smile: With track season's running schedule along with a bit of involuntary fasting due to new braces, I've gotten my six-pack back. Yay.
-
Had my uni orientation day, which was rained out, but it was still a lot of fun and got to meet a whole stack of new people from the education faculty. Very tired. :)
-
Today's Reason to Smile: Practice was cancelled, due to gail force winds. Yay!
-
WTF?! They used to send us out to do cross-country runnin' in friggin blizzards.
Honest to God, blizzards.
There'd be like a foot of snow and they'd go "Well, seen as it's snowing.......you can wear jogging-bottoms over your shorts".
-
Yes, but this isn't cross-country. Tis' Track n' Field.
Besides it being a pussier sport, I imagine the sprinters and jumper would have a particularly tought time in the wind.
-
I had some really good exercise in the hills today. :D

Meh, we didn;t even get joggin bottoms. We just got diverted from running on pavement to running in a frozen bog. Mind you, the PE teachers were evil bastards.....
-
But you still got shorts? Lucky bastard...
-
I'm not going to follow that thought to its logical conclusion. :p
Today, I also got to print out a buttload of photos to stick in my - what do you call it? Well, it's kind of like an album, but it's got heaps of writing in it too (my reflections, comments) - a bit of a scrapbook. Also got a new set of guitar strings. :)
-
Yesterday (got back late): attended that party I mentioned earlier, and the two birthday girls loved the gifts. I played hacki-sack for someting like... three hours... I'm all sore now. :D
Today: Went out into the garden and spent a couple of hours taking pictures, particularly to make a new desktop background (see below). Then I found out that with my old, two-year-old, 2MP Sony digicam is actually nearing 18000 photos... which is pretty cool. :)
-
Today's reason to smile: today was exercise-day for me 6am-4pm
began 5:55am 25Km bike driving, then boxing etc. before end was 10km walk to test how much we trained
next Training-Day will be next month 60km march with my friends from army, work and some old friends
anyway I love exercise
(this post has some Grammar errors as always)
-
Today's reason to smile: 'tis my birthday, and everybody loves me.
-
That's awesome HIG, you must be a lot fitter than me. :D Though I suppose all army folk *glances in Sandwich's direction* must be pretty fit to keep up with all the crazy stuff you do. :)
Hey, happy 16th birthday Stu! You do anything to celebrate?
-
My friend should get his PS2 modded ( which I don't care about ) and have the import version of the Naruto game on it ( which I care much, much more about :p ) on it today.
If he doesn't, I'll have a reason to frown :p
-
and I suppose that if you have a reason to frown becuse of that... then your friend will also have a some reason to frown eh? :D
I have a Naruto game for GBA... that damn thing is in japanese. Can't understand a word theyre saying... ... bloody... :p

Does giving this large sauna-party with an assload of dudes and more booze than an underaged mostly-man can drink count as celebration?
Now it's the parents-brothers-babies gettogether celebration to go through. Knowing how they, it oughta be fun.

You track guys are pusses - soccer practice -- all wealther (well... not lightning, but that's not us or the couches call) - actualling having to DO something while running
oh yeah did i mention 9 practices per week?

I got my university timetable today. It's sweet, I have a four-day week, and only 18 hours all up! :)

Wait till the work gets in, though..... I have 4 hours of lectures, 1 hour AI tutorial and 2 hours-ish of AI & Dis.Prog labs.
Yet I was up till 4:45 last night working on coursework, and got back up after about 3 1/2 hours of sleep. Yay.

Meanwhile, feel free to shoot me.

now, that you've mocked me for my use of words beyond belief, please, carry on.

Yegads... how much time do you spend on study/assignments each day?
-
Some milestones are making me smile today. :)
Hit 18000 photos on my little digicam (which would be something like AUD$7500 in developing had I used a regular film camera); and just reached 20 hours on my learner licence (need 50). I'm getting there.
Also, we've been getting lots of Autumn rain lately, so that's really good for the land, which is recovering from the huge drought we had a few months back. I hope it keeps up. People seem to get more miserable when it's raining all the time, but I enjoy it.

At the moment - about 10-12... roughly 10am-2am days.
'cept I got up late today cos it's Saturday, so I'll probably have to get up early doors tomorrow.
-
todays reason to smile, I went to eat to a japanese restaurant and the food was great ^^
not to mention that the first music to play in there was Mononoke Hime Theme :D

Just started uni today, which is awesome. Loving having the choice and the free time, and quite enjoying my lectures too. :)

Seems to me a song about a young woman who likes being used like a ragdoll by old men should definitely not have a 16 year old and a small child in the video.

I don't know. Actually, I hate most pop music, but the .GIFs are quite nice.
And you should listen to Lords Of Acid. :D

ittz amazing what this capitolist government considers appropriate. the rise of crimes against children in this country could be directly linked to pop music. i perfer a more international selection of music.

I prefer proper child-porn.

I always prefer J-Pop and manga over something "serious" or "intelligent".

i also perfer death/black metal. america doesnt even recogzize death/black metal at the grammys. pop is always the same, no matter where its from.

No, Jpop is different, it's so terrible it can stop alien invasions :p

Uni is kicking arse so far. I love the freedom I have with my time. It's damn tiring with the distances though - I have to walk 15 mins to get between lectures, the University of Sydney is ridiculously large. :)
The free snooker tables are pretty good. Full size, and you can stay as long as you like if you get in early - which is the up-side of having 8AM starts. I get there so early, and Monday I have a 4-hour break around lunch between lectures, that no one is there before me - so I get to play by myself, then my friends rock along, and we play snooker for what feels like the whole day. It's a lot of fun. I get the feeling I should be reading more, though. :D

Spring is finally taking momentum here in Finland's southern coast. Temperatures in sun are steadily rising, yesterday it was practically hot in the sunspots. Of course this will instantly ruin my attempts to read and forces me to go outside.

Lies, all lies!
I saw no churches as I last time visited Norway, this must mean that they've all been burnt. And such a large number of churches cannot be destroyed without 100% population support. Every male and female, young and old must therefore listen to blackmetal and be a satanist.
TRY AND DENY THAT, YOU SATANIST NORWEGIAN!
lol, kidding
-
@ vyper: :D I'm getting quite good at snooker, too... getting this much practice is good for me. Thanks for the tip about the reading - you're right, I can only see it getting heavier and heavier as the terms and semesters go on. It's quite an experience. :)

Yup.
Senses Fail (first support band) need to learn some lyrics. They're ****e.
Biffy Clyro have sold out the 2000 venue before on their own, there was a lot of support being their home city. They played a 40 minute set, mostly of their 'singles', but also played Hero Management, a fav. from the first album. It was rather busy at the front :D
The drummer Ben came on stage a few minutes before their set to check up on the drum kit. The lighting team (having a laugh) put a full spotlight on him - crowd goes nuts.
Hundred Reasons played through their first and second albums. It took about 15 seconds of their first song, "I'll find you" for a circle pit to form. Good stuff.
The venue's over 14's policy could do with some upgrading to over 16's, there were quite a few little girls (well, 15-ish) who tend to get in your way and get a bit squashed by crowd surfers.
Plus the big projector screens for hundred reasons seemed a bit pointless, occasionally flashing up the HR logo, and only having a 'video' for one song.
And what was up with the Orwell quotes on the amp covers? The mind boggles.

I wish I knew - the UPS department is UK based so I'm hoping to have it by Monday. Then I just need to learn to draw ;)

Let me put it this way: I have something unknown called an Aiptek. He has a Wacom.
Ok? :p
-
Aip...tek?
Ok, I get ya. ;) But it works, right? I've always wanted a tablet, but I've had to make do with my mouse for all my hand-touch-up stuff on renders. A tablet is better than no tablet, right? :)

yeah, true. Well, you also have that nifty camera, I would like to have one too, you now, to get bases for textures and stuff.
-
I guess ;)
That said... mine is in no way an Intuos or a Cintiq... but I'm hoping till do the job. I really want to try my hand at some Applegeeks / Machall / Turnsky style work... and you've no idea how terrible my line art looks when it's been scanned in.
That said, you have a damn fine digital camera Steak - so I get to be jelous of you as well!

If you can ever think of particular stuff to take (rocks, plants, grass), just let me know. If not, I go on nature walks all the time, I'll give you a shout when I have a cache of stuff I think you might be able to use. :)
Heh, okay. But wait, Sandwich's had this same camera for months now! Why didn't you...? *watches Nico and Kal eyeing the V1 suspiciously*
Umm... *goes to lock doors*

Seriously though, if anyone wants me to capture some textures (manmade, natural) and they can think of where to shoot them, I'd be more than willing to lend my services. It just means getting more value out of the camera for me.

I guess I was still in the mile mood. ;)

Todays... well this comes a bit late but... so ok day before yesterdays reason to smile. I bought myself GInga Nagareboshi Gin Special Edition DVD Box (Silver Fang) :D
But it also comes todays reason to smile since I still have 2 DVD's to watch ;)

Heh, had a great chat with one of my friends who'd moved to Melbourne (Impurial) yesterday night. Really been missing him and a lot of my high school friends, so that was a breath of fresh air. :)
Took a CD's worth of photos (700mb) in two days with the new V1, too. :D
-
hehe sounds like the new camera has been put into serious action :D
-
It sure is. Man, you wouldn't believe how much fun it is. I never would have thought I could enjoy a "process" like photography so much, but I'm seeing it more and more as a form of expression and a means of appreciation, and I really like that.
-
The only good way of using a camera is for stalking, man :p

Dude, no way! :p I'll tell you what though, I do think photography opens your eyes to beauty in places you wouldn't usually expect it. People, places, objects, that you usually don't pay attention to, but ought to be appreciated.

I finally got alone with the girl :D
She... didn't say no, neither did she say yes :blah: So in short, I don't know.

Yeah... I know the feeling... be careful not to "strike" your prey too soon though. :D
And look out for the "I think of you as my friend and that's all" aproach, very tricky business. :(

Today's reason to smile (it's tuesday GMT now) - I get my father's car all day. Just in time for lunch with a uni laydee ;)

Well I hope so :p.
Just have to wait now, basically.

Today was cool. Went around with my friend Jeremy, who has a Canon G3 digital camera, and we just went nuts with our portable hard-drive, taking photos of everything around uni for a couple of hours. Awesome fun.

I know her for long ( 6 years ), but not as a best friend or anything. She's my best friend's sister, we rarely hang out together, but as I'm always at my friend's place, we get to spend a lot of time together. Difficult to explain, but it's different.
And as for the no reply thing, it's fairly complicated. She's pregnant, but the father left her, so it's not really easy, you can guess. Wanted her to know she could count on my help and, well... attachement for anything, basically.
Anyway, I'm not dumb enough not to know that this will probably soon turn out to be a reason to frown :p

That's terrible (the father leaving her). It's admirable of you to step in like that - I really hope your intentions stay noble.

Well, I can't blame the father either ( told you, it's complicated ), she is... difficult to live with, let's say.
As for my intentions, they're not complicated, just wanna be together and so forth.

Sometimes it's just down to having the (excuse my use of the term) balls to do it.
I have to admit it's not usually my style and I've missed some oppurtunities with other girls just from not putting my proverbial foot in the door when I should have. I just walked up to here while she was sitting at her register in work and asked her. :)
She's doing a degree in pharmacy so not only does she have a great personality and looks rather lovely, she's a smart lady too. Rather nice package IMHO, here's hoping it all goes well.

Why do all medical related degree girls look hot? I mean it's accepted practise that if you're going to a lecture in our uni you should cut through the Health faculty because of the chicks... so.... is it genetic? Are hot girls predisposed to medical courses?
-
Hot nurses ;)
Maeglamor, stop teasing :( well... good luck anyway... lucky bastard :p ;7

See, women are ok until you start going steady with one and realise that they are completely bat**** insane with thought processes that are so incredibly different to seemingly normal male ones that it makes me wonder if they aren't just a secret device planted here millenia ago to slow the advancement of the human race.

Then again, they think the same of us "males".

Bad apples! I'm still with her, my lack of understanding of the female mind makes it even harder to not want to be with her. She's like a god damn Rubiks Cube that has too many white tiles and not enough red.
Nico: I beg to differ, at least in my case anyway, I tend to find most men have three or four basic needs that, if satisfied, leave them very easy to understand. A man needs, food when hungry, sex when horny, sleep when tired and a variable (usually time with friends, playing computer games or something else). I've yet to find a bloke who this theory doesn't apply to.
I tell the missus this too but she don't get it.
-
Fair enough then. The main thing is that both parties are content, even if there is a little fog and misunderstanding.

Bingo. Explain all you want, they ( the girls ) won't see us that way ( big generality there, of course ).

I love that analogy, most particularly because I can claim that the apples in my local orchard all seem to be genetically modified!

1/ Handed in my honours report :D
(which is stupidly large, BTW - about 2 1/2 inch think A4)
2/ Won at footie (by 15)
Now, i should elaborate on the latter..... we played our first game in the 5s about October last year, winning by a goal (holding noto a sinbgle goal lead for about 10 mins at 5s....:D). Anyways, our striker (Smithy) was **** hot - ripping the piss out of the entire oppo team. So in the last 5 minutes or so, one of thier players just absolutely launched themselves at smithy - sliding in with no intention of getting the ball and nearly amputating him.
Today, we discovered the same lad was guesting for our oppo.....presumably because we needed to win to go more or less ahead of his team. So i took the decision to be do a wee bit of man-marking..... and ripped him to shreds.
Literally - he was going apoplectic because every touch he had, I took it off him. He couldn't breathe, let alone play.....evne when I dropped off, someone else took over. At one point he tried to square me up, so I just shoved him aside and walked with me back to him.....and Smithy won the game again for us, tearing the oppo to shreads.
Sweet, sweet revenge.
although I feel sorry for the rest of the oppo, who weren't really involved in the whole argy bargy side of things.

They just don't think that men are as simple as they are, I think it's part of a womans psyche to over analyse everything.
-
Maybe, yeah. I don't try and understand them, I take them as they come, and try and do with it.
-
Women are like joysticks in a realistic space sim. You can't move it too fast, too hard or force it (bend or break it).
(To the females reading this, please do not be ofended but instead take this as a compliment ;))
-
That's, er... Well, it's one way of putting it. I think that applies more to any relationship with anyone, be it business partner, spouse, or lover, rather than to just women in general.
-
I had reason to smile yesterday, but I was too ****ed up to post....
-
i got 100/100 in my AS geography exam :D, which is good i suppose among other goods things. ;)
-
Good job on the footy, Aldo. I'm hoping to join Inter-Faculty Sport soon, so us Education students will be kicking the asses of everyone else at whatever sports we can find too. ;)
Kudos on the perfect score, Zero. :) Was it hard? Gee, I can't remember the last time I got a mark like that, well done.
Finally started archiving the photos from my new camera (just bought a new batch of CDs). 4 CDs of photos in just under a week - craziness! I've had to change my background seven or eight times since I bought the V1, and I'm just getting better and better at handling all the manual features. Damn it's fun. :)
Also, recovered from my sickness - I think I'm getting more used to waking up at 5:30am now. Heh. :nervous::yes:
-
You wake up at 5:30? Yeesh.. thats some nasty stuff there man! I'm used to a nice 9:00am start (generally) although that said I do have to cycle through hell or high water to get to work (usually it's the later).
Congrats on the handling of the camera though - I'm finding a similar thing with the Wacom tablet but still feel I haven't really scratched the surface.
-
Best not to scratch the surface. My tablet has a slight crack and some stress marks on the frame from me leaning on it :p
-
Hehe. ;) Well, it's an 8am start, but I have to wake at 5:30 because leaving 15 minutes earlier at that time means arriving 45 minutes later, so I'd be late for class. :doubt: But the great thing is, I really do like the peace and quiet you get in the morning. The relative lack of sleep is worth it. ;)

Heh, today I handed in my software assignment (a very small Java project), I have tomorrow as my day off, and the weekend is looking good - going on a camp with some Christian friends from the Education faculty at uni. Also, had some spare time after my lab session because I had handed in that assignment already, so I spent a while sucking up the uni's several T1 lines and laughing at you guys in Ye Olde English. :D (I'm at home right now.)

hey Setekh, acoustic or electric? I'm guessing the first?
I should get back into the habit of playing my guitar, it just sits in the corner and gathers dust. But its kinda crudy one anyway and it would be better if I got a new one, but then I'd have to get a job, and then a car, then learn to drive etc etc. sigh. lol.

Ghostavo: You're a chess-player? Awesome! Keep us updated about your competition, it'd be exciting to see how you go. I got to state level with my school team once, that was cool. ;)
Janos: You going bird watching? Yes, I very much loathe you :p Have a good one, mate. :)

now Paper work begins Yay! I think thats reason to smile:)

Todays reason:
It's a mates 19th birthday, we're going to a rock bar and getting F-ing wrecked. Plus I managed to arrange things so that I don't have to be in work tomorrow till mid-day, so there's plenty of time to sleep it off. Also, it's 4 days untill Shaun Of The Dead is released.
Smiles!

You want your rain? I got your rain right here buddy ;)
-
Well, the whole reason I'm enjoying it so much is because I've really missed it. We usually get seasonal rains, every Spring, but we haven't had them for a good couple of years. And that's not to mention the severe drought we've been having since Summer last year. Rain is good. :)
-
You like rain? Come to Glasgow. :wtf:
-
Guys, people died in this drought. Do you want me to explain again?
-
No no, it's cool man - in many ways thats the crazy thing about this world. I hate rain since I have so much of it here. I'd love a sunny day / month / more. But it's suprising how a few thousands miles away, people would kill for a good storm to come their way.
I'm glad you have some rain! Care to do a part exchange and send some of that Aussie sun our way?
-
Heh, cheers. I do appreciate that, because it's really quite a slap in the face when people are joking about having too much rain when the lack of it is costing people's lives.
Well, I'd gladly do that if I could control the weather, but that's just a little out of my control at the present moment. I can bring you to the Aussie sun, though. ;)
-
If you tell me you've won a lottery - I'm going to scream ;) I suppose I should be greatful for a stable job, but my goodness it's monotonous sometimes. At least on the bright side I share an office with some very pretty girls my age - so it's not all bad.
At any rate, enjoy your rain
-
Wow, what's the name of the place? Is it north or south of Sydney?
North (my contact said that In phone who got that land for me
he will fax all details for me in 45min So I wating things

We did :) I didn;t pay an entry fee every game for the entire season for nothing you know :p
New reason to smile - went home on the weekend, ate meat, and now heading into a long weekend, 2 weeks of unless holiday, and then the ANZAC day long weekend - come friday, 18 straight days of no tuition - course, that's balanced out by the fact that I'll have to spoend it mostly looking for work, and that by thursday I'll have had 5 assesments due in 4 days... So I've got a sort of anticipatory half smile on my face presently.

What about the many people who died because of rain last year in France, after all the floodings in the south? Don't get pissed at that, dude, what's good for someone is not mandator... her... ily? good for others. We here could use some of your droughts from times to times, believe me :)
-
Appreciated, Venom. Floods and drought are two sides of the same coin. Joking about either would be an insensitivity. Which is why I didn't joke about them.

Ooh, wow, I can understand why it would be costly then. But it'll be a great piece of land, I bet. :)

Yeah it's great piece of land :) paper work is underway and house building plans

Very exciting. You'll love Australia. :) So when exactly are you moving again? Are you going to start building first and then move over once it's done, or move first and live in a flat for a while?
Today's reason for me: as of fifteen minutes ago, class is finished for the term (half a semester). Roll on Easter.
-
Yeah for you its Easter.... I have Management Accounting A.. which doesn't finish till 6pm....
-
Welcome to HLP, hezzy. I'm sure you'll survive your classes. :D :p
:welcome:
Besides, this is the smile thread. Here, I'll bump the frowning thread for you and you can complain there. ;)

Todays reason:
A girl who means the world to me just sent me an email from her gap year course out in India.

Glad to hear it, anyway, Kal :)

oh, thank you :)
"study study study study study study study study study study!!!!"

Today's reason to smile - I invented a new and far superior method of eating pitta breads. It involves cutting them in half, strategically placing cheese in each half, then putting the two halfs open-end-up in the toaster. Mmmm, melted cheese pitta. The cheese keeps the pitta hot for longer than normal, too ^_^
Oh, and I'm spending the day with my girlfriend. I guess I should've written that before going on about the pitta breads, eh?
-
The life: a matter of priorities :p
-
Yeah my bad Setekh, I shoulda posted it in the other forum. Anyway, my break has come and Management Accounting is over!!!! Let the holidays begin! YaY! :)
-
:D It's cool man, thank God you survived. Happy Easter. ;)
Kal: Isn't life grand sometimes? It's amazing how much a single person can sometimes be worth to us.
Odyssey: Nice one, dude. I'm always interested in creative ways of eating good food.
Oh, and have a good time with the girlfriend too. ;)

I'am moving flat first my house should be ready before end of this year
ah. another Steaks Friend :welcome: :)

That's fantastic news. :) Tell me, why exactly are you moving for?
Oh, and a new reason (since it's almost tomorrow for me): I prepped an hour or so ago, and I'm ready to treat my family to a breakfast of freshly fried pancakes. Can't wait.
-
That's fantastic news. :) Tell me, why exactly are you moving for?
well because I always wanted move to Since I was 20 that time I didn't have money of course:blah: but now I have needed money
and many other reasons( I but it this way when I first came to Australia I left part of my soul there now I want be full again and Enjoy life more than ever) and get new work there

the australians are invading, the australians are invading!

I understand. :) Well, things are definitely looking up if you're financially able to move over here - I'm happy to hear you're seeking what you recognise you've lost before. As Turnsky says, Australia truly is a great place to be.
Well, I was kind of smiling when I found out that we broke 1000 posts in a day yesterday. Haven't done that for a while... :D

financially I'am very ready to move :)
-
What does that mean? ;)
The only thing is, all the Japanese guys I know who live in Australia (all 3 of them ;)) seem to miss all the technology they used to have in Japan. But you'd know what to expect if you've lived here before. Can't wait till you're down here. :)
-
Theres a Canucks/Flames game on tonight. The Canucks are already up by one in the series so far after their 5-3 victory on Wednesday...
-
What does that mean?
err. sorry my bad english again
anyway I should be there 8-7-2004 If I find nice flat where I move
before my house is ready
-
No no, I understand what you meant, the English was fine. :) I just wondered - does that mean you have a lot of money to spend on this? North shore houses (where your piece of land sounds like it's from) are very expensive, but worth it.
Anyway, I'm going to get some sleep now, and that's a reason to smile too. Night all :)
-

:wtf: I sense that was directed at me - lemme say how the hell was I to know ppls lives were lost since u made no mention of it in the previous post?
:nervous:
-
vyper, don't worry about it now - he meant it at me as much as you, and neither of us knew. There's no hard feelings here - and we all still got our abundance of rain
As for todays reason to smile? Well it's very simple.
Shaun Of The Dead (www.romzom.com)
Absolutely ****ing fantastic. Feature length Spaced with zombies in it. Incredible giggles, good filming and a fairly simple to follow storyline that had the entire cinema - for the first time in my years of cinema going - pissing themselves with laughter.. and not just cult-film fans or geeks - everyone from families to Rebok wearing estate monkeys. It was fabulous and it made my day. Cant wait for the DVD.
-
I wanna see that more than dawn of the dead, lol.
-
Yeah, forget it now vyper. What Kal said. ;)
Today: I went into the local music store looking for a compact stand for my guitar, and they have just the one I'm looking for in their Melbourne warehouse, and I get a discount because it'll take a week to order in. Happy. :)
-
Today (4am): Full Metallica concert on TV :D

I had the best sleep I've had for weeks last night, since uni break just started. Happy Easter holiday, all. :)

Unfortunately, he's right. New Metallica is **** compared to their older stuff. Anything pre-Load is good.
I'm actually listening to Sanitarium now :)

fortunately the message board's i moderate tend not to attracy any lamers what so ever... it's strange

To each his or her own I guess. I like St. Anger and Frantic :p But besides those two numbers I guess your right.
And yes, Sanitarium is still the best :)

all music, save for System of a Down, has sucked for the last seven years
-
Not really. For example; Kane. A Dutch singer who broke through a few years ago makes some excellent music and has his own style. :)
[sarcasm alert]Anyway, you are just a pessimist with a generalized view on the music world and don't even attempt to find new music that is to hyour liking. [/sarcasm alert]
-
I'm waiting untill I hear something that I like then all the random bits that I didn't hear will have been colecting for years, honestly I don't think I've listened to the radio in over a year, to much nikel back and whiney hey-I-just-turned-14 sounding bullcrap, and most heavy stuff sucks to, they just arn't trying anymore.
-
and this thread started out with set talking about a frend who narrowly escaped a flood
-
Well, a reason to smile; My legs are getting a little bit better :)
-
reason to smile I'am going next week fly again W00t!
-
Good to hear about the legs, Tiara. Are they in casts now, or something? How long do the docs think you'll be immobile for?
HIG, you mean to Australia? :)
Today's reason for me: apart from the sleep, I went and cooked food for my whole family to survive them for a day (I'll be out of the house all day tomorrow). Phew, feels good having finished all that.

Heh, that's right. I do appreciate the need for dryness balanced with the need for wetness. Hmmm... *considers adding Zoolander quote here* ;)
-
reason to fear... Holy Imperial Gloriano is going to fly again :shaking:
either way, reason to smile today is that I am now going to my "nation's nacional" ( ) chess championship. :D

Yeah, in casts. :( The doctors say the casts will have remain on for 2 months at least. Would've been MUCH longer had my legs been shattered instead of broken though :) I just try to see the bright side of all of this. :) Besides, it gives me some time to spend on myself :)
-
Ghostavo, are you much of a chess player? All the best at the competition! :)
I agree, Tiara: solitude is really something to appreciate. Worth remembering when we have quiet time. :)
-
Steaky-boy;
-
HIG, you mean to Australia :)
with fighter :p:hell no
I'am still coming this week to Australia this week hold your horses ;) Actualy I'am there only few days checking that place and things like that so when I'am there I'am running kinda
'
bah checked my calendar I'am going fly 23th-29th this month that is friday

I consider myself a medium player... I find it insulting that most chess games with a ELO strenght option play the most crappy game possible when I put my own ELO. :(
( ELO = Ranking )

It really is exciting to be travelling, though... can't remember the last time I went overseas (8-10 years ago?). 23-29th, that's in a couple of weeks - cool, that's definitely to look forward to. :)
Ghostavo, have you been a chess player for long? I loved playing chess against the computer as a little kid, because no one in my house could beat me. I stopped playing a little while ago though, so I'm a bit out of touch. ;)
-
I've been playing chess since 5... although I had a looooooooong pause and had to restart about 3 or 4 years ago.
Here's a sites if you can understand them.
http://xadrezaveiro.no.sapo.pt/ - my hometown chess site :D
http://www.infoxadrez.com/ - my countries main chess site :p
http://www.fide.com/ - it explains itself :doubt:

yeah that would be cool ;) good wake up call :D
-
Lol, it would be quite something for you to pop up on my doorstep with your jet parked in the driveway. :D
Today's reason for me: got to spend the whole day with a great friend of mine, fixing her computer, eating lunch, and just lazing about chatting. Never get enough time to do that with my old friends these days, so I was smiling all day really. :)

the other's from NCSU, Raleigh, North Carolina.

ANZAC (Australia New Zealand Army Corps, back from the World War) Day's coming this Sunday, which will be cool to remember.
I also get a four-day weekend, which will also be cool. :)
-
Tommorrow I'am heading to military Airfield (base) I'am there 7 day's I'am taking digi camera with me but gotta think about that
I maybe posting here from there If i find time:) but I think I'am very very busy
-
Don't worry, we all know there's gonna be no pic
-
Ah, just beat the second-last level on Halo on Legendary - with my brother. It's always tons more fun playing together. :)
Hmm, a book I ordered a couple of days also came in the mail today. Hooray
-
Gah. The past week has been ridiculous for me. Three nights, two hours of sleep each, buried under assignments. Just not a good way to live.
The reason to smile, though, is because that's over and done with. My next big set of work is in about a month's time, so that'll provide ample time to recharge... and I'm going on a weekend away and playing music for a Christian group at uni tomorrow, so w00t. :)
-
Just as well that damn SOFT Individual Prototype is over and done with. And why on earth am I still up so late, I should be in the comfort and refuge of my bed.
I highly recommend The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, I don't recall reading a 600 page book in such quick time.
-
No kidding. Heh, glad to hear you made it through your 4-6pm lecture, hezzy. :p
Anyway, yeah, I indulged in a four hour nap this afternoon, and just woke up a little while ago to eat dinner. Man, that rest felt so good.
-
Hahah thanks, but I barely made it through. I went on a crazy gym session before and I fell asleep for about 10 minutes during Accounting, I was up the back though so nobody noticed :)
-
my reason to smile..
i'm doing a guest comic for another webcomic..
more details later ;)
-
Well done. I hope you don't snore. :D
Another reason to smile for me is that this relaxed period of uni work means I can get a lot of stuff done for HLP that I've been meaning to do for weeks. Keep your eyes open, everyone. ;)
Oh and let me tell you folks, Turnsky's guest comic... is shaping up and looking very cool right now.
-
just a little background info.
http://blacktapestries.keenspace.com/
this is the webcomic i'm guesting for.
-
My reason to smile: my legs are better now Thank's god
and another reason to smile lot of very good things are are happening to me I can't tell what they are right now but maybe some time ;)
and last reason I got good price from my house that I sell when I moving to Australia:)
-
My reason to smile... a bit anyway :p I just played through Bridge Commander again. I just wuv taking command of a ship and go rampaging about :D
-
My reason to smile... after three days without the web I'm finally back online. They finally fixed the router problem... sheesh
-
my reason to smile - really was for yesterday
I found out one of my friends that came to school christian is now an atheist - he had never been exposed to an atheist before meeting me.. seems i had a huge influence and got him thinking - he basically holds the same position that you've seen me arguing all over the place here - and i haven't talked about it with him for like a year before yesterday
-
my reason to smile today, i passed the first (and hardest) assignment for me after some hiatus from actual study.. with flying colors
it was a report on information gathering techniques.. researching researching if you will... quite hard when you're out of practice and the only thing you've actually "researched" was some tweaks to one's computer :p
-
I got the guitar finished with a few days to spare! :D
[Austin Powers]And I'm spent[/Austin Powers]
you can tell me what you think if you want. :nervous:

-
Well done Turnsky, I empathise with the satisfying completion of work like that. I too have just finished up a rough patch of assignments and am getting the next bunch under control now - I just hope I can hold it like this.
And Maeg, that is just... too awesome for words. You are the bomb. :D
My reason: just finished a big day at uni, and tomorrow I'm gonna meet some old high school friends... really, really looking forward to that. Now, to get some sleep.
-
Yesterday: spent my evening around the city with SilveN, taking photos of the beautiful night-time scene around Sydney, especially the harbour. The skyline looked really nice. :)
-
And for the uninitiated, this is what the Sydney Harbour Bridge looks like at night. I have higher-res shots if anyone's interested. ;)
-
Cripes... how much is a ticket to Aus? I want to come visit!

My pleasure, HIG. :)
Today's reason: after two really rough days of assignments due, I finally get a weekend break. This has given me the chance to transcribe a bunch of songs I just figured out on guitar (mostly church songs) - about 20 of them! Music rocks.
-
Just finished my contribution to my major semester software project. You guys can have a look... extract, open up a DOS prompt at that dir, and type in "java ThemePark". It's still filled with debug methods and stuff right now, but the functionality is there. :)
