Yes, i know this has been asked a number of times, but all the threads regarding this are pretty old...
So, has anyone so far been able to create a good looking skybox to simulate a mission into the atmosphere of earth (or any planet)? It is even possible? If yes, how can i do it right?
-
TI has, but it doesn't look like they want to release a HowTo.

I'm in the process of developing a skybox for 158th, as well. I believe it can be seen in some preview thread somewhere in their public forum.

Sure, go ahead.

Are you thinking along the lines of porting the Homeworld2 backgrounds to FS2 skyboxes ?
-
minus the F22s it reminds me of Deneb in the FS2 intro.
Oh yeah, could a similar technique be used to simulate low orbit (similar to the effect in SNES Starfox/wing) ?
