Second time I have seen this band and it was even better than the first (which was one of the gigs of my life). Just a pure rock n' roll band that play from the heart and rock like mother****ers, go see them. NOW.

system of a down is better
:)
-
Any band that resorts to incoherent screaming to convey how angsty and **** they are sucks ass. With a twisty straw.

I'm assumeing that wasn't directed SoaD

Specifically at them, yes, but based on my weak memory at both. My recollection of Monster Magnet isn't so clear as of the other, so I couldn't say definitively one way or the other that it's a crime against music, but if they're anything like System of a Down then they definitely deserve the description. The statement really works as a general rule anyway. Go listen to some Led Zeppelin or Social Distortion or something, kids, leave the bad ear-bleeding noises to the juvenile delinquents.
Christ, now I've got that awful "Toxicity" song in my head again. GET IT OUT! GET IT OUT!

we fought your wars with all our hearts
you sent us back in body parts
you took our wills with the truth you stole
we offer prayers for your long lost soul
your remainder is an unjustifiable egotistical power struggle
at the expense of the american dream
...
there is no flag that is large enough
to hide the shame of a man in cuffs
you switched your signs then you closed the blinds
you changed the channels and you changed our minds
and
roulette (http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/blackwater/soadroulette.mp3)
most of the songs arn't incohearant screaming, though quite loud, only the realy 'popular' ones seem to have the incoherant jibbajabba.
yes Toxicity did suck prety bad

ah monster magnet. i saw them opening up for metallica about 6 years ago. first time i ever saw a pair of tits (well maybe the second).
but im more into black metal. dimmu borgir kicks ass.
you really must check out "progenies of the great apocalypse". in thai song they made the best damn of an orchistra ive ever heard.
there was a band in arizona called doubleshocker. hard rock at its finest. i used to get really drunk on guiness and tequilla, then mosh with the construction workers that were usually at the bar, they went home really sore. they offered my a spot on their tour bus, should they ever get one.

Aight, I'll buy that it's at least partly Clear Channel's bad taste. Wouldn't be the first time...

Monster Magnet are just Rock n' roll, like the singer said on stage last night "We sing songs about drinking beer, smoking pot and rocking out" and you can't really say fairer than that. I think the highlight had to be when they played Powertrip because you can't beat a hall full of people screaming "I'm never gonna work another day in my life, the gods told me to relax and said I'm gonna get fixed up right".
