Title: Reimaged BSG
Post by: IPAndrews on February 23, 2004, 03:59:15 am
Or is it reimagined? Whatever. I've seen the two part introduction to the new Battlestar Galactica series now and what a surprise. I actually enjoyed it. Enough to consider pre ordering the DVD which goes on sale on the 1st of March here in the UK. I found it a stylish, effective piece of sci-fi drama and it kept me thoroughly entertained for three hours. Not bad for the director of "Queen of the Damned".

*Can't contain shock*

Okay, so it may be a solid piece of sci-fi, but does it deserve the 'Battlestar Galactica' title? THERE'S the question! :D

I never saw BSG "back then", but two years ago only. I don't think anything deserves to be given the name of that crap, frankly. Awful actors, ridiculous plot, unlimited cheesyness, erm... cylonesque cylons ( they're so "cool" they deserve to have their names used as insults ). There's really fanboys for everything :doubt:
But then again, memories tends to make things much cooler than what they really were :p

Venom's good at modling... nuff said.

As for new BSG I actually liked it also. Of course to me I have to consider it "Alternate Dimension" cause even now people in the business want to remake (NOT "re-imagine") the original series but fast forward 20 years. Oh and totally forget all that Earth and Galactica 80 crap...

I've been watching it on sci-fi during their galactica morning blocks (11a.m.to 4p.m.) I've only missed like 2 or 3 episodes and they still elude me ha ha.. Just like I remember it as a child. Classic sci-fi, cool original ideas, and MUFFET! I wanted one so badly, and now look today they have mini-muffets for $200.00 (those ingenius japanese guys) lol...

The only real downer about the "new" BSG is the creator... Did anyone see the interview he did during "BSG the LOWDOWN"? He was a total wanker. He basicly said , this is what I am doing deal with it... He really needed to work on his people skills as I think he alienated a LOT of fans. I myself did NOT watch the first weekend cause of his attitude. I finally caved cause I am a real fan and was open minded enough to get over the fact that I disliked the source (That jerk)... I would definately like to see BOTh a new series for these characters as well as a continuation of the original..

OH BTW you will get to fly the Richard hatch "Scarlet Viper" cause I ported it to FS2 and gave it to IP and the bunch (When I get around to it I found an update and now there are REAL scarlet textures like there are supposed to be, so I will be sending that map soon)...

*sigh* More sci-fi only available offshore. Let me know when the DVDs are air-shippable. ;)

I think you're on your own with that one.

If they showed that robot's boobs, it would've been soft-core pr0n. (for the record, I thought I saw her neither regions in one scene :))

But, it was OK, although the space combat had almost no sound and no bass, so it was a little boring cause of that.

Speaking for BSG robots, how about that totally hot Asian Chick... Could they call her "Boomer" for more than one reason? ;7

I liked the re-imagined BSG.  I watched the original a few years ago on SPACE and I kinda liked it but it was just "ok". The visuals for the time were certainly good.

I liked the way the space battles were done.  They certianly seemed like a compromise between doing sounds in space and being realistic to what the environment would actually be like.  I liked the fact that the sound was seriously compressed to create that....plus the camera movements was something I'd not expected and found it to be really neat!

It has real potential as a full series...

I hope the show doesn't suck.

I'm kinda worried because I saw it describer as "a soap opera in space"

The only thing I didn't like about the camera work is that snap-zooming was used a tad too much.
