Title: census: how many ships do you have
Post by: Nuke on February 23, 2004, 06:32:14 pm: ok, im attempting to tabulate all the ships produced by the community, for you to be able to count a ship, it must be textured and functioning in the game. this includes everything that would be referenced by the ships table, including sentries, and installations. updated versions of ships do not count (such as my 2 versions of the chaos, i only count the latest). variations of ships are acceptable so long as there are noticable geometry changes to the main hull.

state the number of ships you have and then add it to the number in the post before. as you create additional ships add those as well.

In total - I'm responsible for 68 pofs +/- 5 depennding on how you judge responsiblity.

Second is this for CORE FS2 mods or are you including other genres like B5, Wars, and Trek?

Post by: Nuke on February 23, 2004, 09:31:26 pm: i just wanted to know how many ships the community as a hole has produced. my 16 are fully original models, though i have based alot of textures off of the ones used for freespace, although ive been trying to break out of that habbit. my last couple of models have 100% original textures.

Post by: Nico on February 24, 2004, 02:12:18 am: pfff, dunno, a lot, between the OTT ships, the Descent conversions, the Inferno ships, the Robotech ones, the two macross Plus YF, the stand-alone things. Can't bother counting. As Bob say, anyway, that's quality that counts, not quantity.

actually if I look at aldo's shipset and knowing that they aren't just borgcubes I feel shocked, since it would take me around 10 years to do all this stuff:)
Consider that with all his stuff you could almost create an entire game's shipset;)

Yeah, but the problem is that 90%+ of the released stuff is crap..... it's basically an illustartion of a 2 1/2 year learning curve.

And i think Venoms' ship count absolutely dwarfs mine.... :)

The Starforce universe is very loosely based on the game Tyrian, and I took some of their names and changed the things they described ~~a bit~~ almost entirely. In Tyrian, Microsol was a big evil corporation bent on harvesting a gravity-defying metal with which to build a fleet of super-fast warships to do...evil things, I guess. I changed it around to a galactic superpower ruled by a corporation--the Microsol Consortium is an actual political entity in the Starforce universe. Blame Tyrian's somewhat odd humor for the name.

Microsol �‚ Microsoft. In fact, there is no such thing as Microsoft in the Starforce universe. It's been gone for centuries and largely forgotten.

P.S. Was that an accidental misspelling of my name or is that some kind of penis-related pun?
