With the wireframe thingy:

I was trying to do a "vertical bomber" and I came across two interesting ideas... but I can't make up my mind on which one to continue to work. Both are still too undeveloped (273 and 390 polys from left to right). So the question I leave you is... which one do you prefer? Cockpit in the upper section or in the middle section?
P.S.
First playable ship I'm trying to make... please don't kill me!! :shaking:

Well by the polycount neither is technically underdeveloped, but most of that comes from those guns (which are unnecessarily high-poly unless you're going super-high poly with it.
And fix those links. .txt works wonders as a filetype (trust me on that one, so long as most of your users are using modern browsers)

32 polys a gun is super-high poly?
I'm going to try to give details to one of them but try to stay in the 1000 polys area...
-
Both could work well. With modification. I'm more inclined towards the left one, just because it's asymmetrical and that seems to always make ships more interesting, but like I said, you could develop either one into an attractive bomber.

I agree with Stryke, much as it pains me to say.
The guns are a waste of polys, since they're small and you'll never see the rounding at any normal distance. You can spend those polys elsewhere.
The overall idea is pretty groovy, though. I'd like to see some detail spent on the engines, and something to break up the flat face of the main body. If you'd like I could mock up some examples.
Also, if you lay it down on its side, you could put a turret in on the sides of the thing. :D

that on left look better
Other one looks like gun platform:)
Both need lots of work..

I don't like the hemispherical shapes - they look too fat. Make it narrower or slightly angular, and it'd look excellent. Like the idea, though - should be good when you do some more to it. :)

Reminds me too much of the Home World Mothership! Hmm your fighter would compliment the MS well as personalised fighters..

I was thinking the same thing :)

Thanks for the input. :)
What are the shapes normally used in a gun?
As for turrets I'm thinking of putting an AAA beam on the lower tip of the body!! :D
The main problem is doing acurate irregular shapes such as you say, which always seem to go wrong with me... anyway, thanks for the opinions. :)
EDIT: MS??

Triangles, or at most a 45 degree rotated cube (i.e. a diamond from the front).

I like the one left, provided you do something with that front centre section. :)
