thoughts/opinions appreciated, as usual.

Wow, that looks awesome!
Can I have? :D
-
look nice, but what are those white dots in the middle?
it looks like if the two halfs are not connected
-
It looks really nice.
-
From what I've experienced of TS, that's the result of lining two meshes up without actually joining them. The two pieves can be perfectly aligned but it'll still give that effect. Never did find out the correct way of sticking them together...
****ing nice ship BTW. Would have been perfect for FS:AAB
-
That's a quick render, pre Tsunage-Kun (Hamano's plug-in). The 2 halves join okay though. I've since corrected those edges in the rear pods and the usual stability tom-foolery.
I'm struggling with textures though. Painting faces in TS with tiles is hit and miss.
Should I try lith or Uv mapping ?
-
looks neat.
-
That's nice work magatsu.
As for how to texture it I've only used Lith but from what I've heard there isn't that big a difference between the two programs but most people prefer Lith :)
-
yes, what kara said. BTW If you'll try lith you may have more help if there's something you don't understand, since most people here use it. Also be sure to use the lastest version (check kara's faq/ipandrews tutorial for download)

Hull looks great, same for guns and engines... Now I don't know if it is the angle but I don't like that particualr shape of the fin behind the flying bridge (as I am partial to anime ships I assume that's what you got). How about making it more sturdy looking or thicker? Especially the connecting part!
-
I kinda like it. I dislike the spoiler and I'd suggest more ww2 era battleship style main turrets, but otherwise, its rockin.
-
the spoiler it kind of pointless, yes
but that is a realy great looking ship, send that to FSup, it's perfict
-
Unless what we think is a spoiler is in fact a naval style radar dish :D
In which case it's kind of cool :)
-
Hurray for karajorma!!
those turrets are supposed to be Battleship stylee, but i've got no source pictures to go off.
I take it you mean more angular, and perhaps flatter, mikhael ?

angular/flatter, and perhaps make it spin:p

From the plan view, it looks strangely Hydran. (SFC)
-
Ship looks a bit organic...

what do you think of the new guns ?;7
I've been looking at WW2 Battleship memorial sites.
I've got a real noobie question about mapping. Basically, why ?
Most walkthroughs tell on how to use it, but I was wondering why it's necessary, in the hope of better understanding what I'm trying to do.
-
Cause you don't want your ship to be a big white blob in space perhaps? :D
If you mean why use lith rather than repeating tiled textures the reason is that a properly lithed ship will always look much better.
-
for mapping, i'd think it would benefit from a WW2-era color-scheming
-
Brilliant!
-
Not bad, like the new guns. Lose the spoiler, unless you integrate it a little more like on the Satis. ;)
-
This is better. Lovely design. The spoiler on the back is a little odd, but I like it. One of the major campaigns should take this ship under their wing.

Damn it, stop calling it a spoiler!!
It's a naval stylee roataing radar dish!! I might move it though.
Thanks for the positive comments though.

There is something.... Well, a bit carish in the model. It looks great, especially the rear part, but it's almost too sleak IMHO.
But I can't wait for textured model pics. I have a hardon for this ship.
-
it screams corvette... to me at least
-
Yeah, that's what I'm aiming for.
Got a couple of Lith questions.
Is planar the best mapping to go for ? I understand Box is only for smaller ships ?
Do i nedd to texture first, then correct with the mapping, of texture afterwards ?
Ta.

um, "help ", anyone ? :nervous:
-
Use planar on selected groups of faces.
-
the walkthroughs I've gone through suggest making the material into a checker type, which I've done.
So am I aiming for a uniform look with the checker pattern, so as to avoid texture stretching ?
