I'm looking for a 3d graphing utility so i can visualize surfaces in 3-space without having to guess what the shape of some equation looks like. does anybody have any good links? its got to be free though

What, like a formula modeller? I know RDS had one, and I'll bet POVray does too.

Gnuplot does that, but it's hard to use.
