A little early to tell though, since the ROTK EE isn't around yet, but what the heck.
Mine was The Two Towers. The furthest departure from the book. Yet the best movie. The pre-battle build-up was perfect with a very Kurosawaish feel. Theoden's speech ("Where is the horse and the rider....") is right up there with some scenes from Lawrence of Arabia (which still remains the definitive epic for me, along with Spartacus), it had Chris Lee in it, and the beaaaaautiful music - "Isengard Unleashed" namely, and the last March of the Ents, combined with the music is to die for. Sure, it had Aragorn falling off a cliff, but hey, nobody's perfect.
Then comes FOTR and then weakest was imo, ROTK.

Nah. RotK. Seeing a leader speak to his men always moves me. Aragorn's speech before the troops had me in tears. That moment defines the real power of the trilogy to me.

It's a tie between the first, the second and the third, for me. They all have moments I love.

It's REALLY hard to say. I'm not voting, because I think each one has its strentghs. I have to say though, that the intro into Two Towers was, bar none, the best lead in I have EVER seen in a movie.

I liked the whole thing. The only people who are going to find flaw are nitpicky fanbois.

Well, i've not seen RoTK yet, actually (so I won;t vote. Be a bit unfair). But I did prefer the Fellowship to the 2 Towers.
Of course, the fact that the 2 Towers was on a crappy knocked off DVD with piss sound and bad tracking may have influenced my decision........

I'll vote for Fellowship for now but with the reservation that the extended edition of RotK may beat it.
