okay, as some of you may be aware, i have problems with HTL, and shine mapping..
namely.. with HTL, shinemaps don't work.. (i've tried every possible flag)
without.. no probs but ****ty framerate..
i have a Radeon 9000 pro (128mb) with 4.2 catalyst drivers..
Athlon 1.8ghz
256mb ddr
Direct X 9b, and the whole shebang..
and if this helps.. here.. the d3d caps thingy as saved from the launcher (4.x)

if you need my dxdiag stats, please PM me..
-
oh, it would be a help if somebody could recreate this error.. anybody got a spare 9000 lurking about?
-
Hmmm, IIRC the Radeon 9000 has a bug where FS2_open seems to have problems with it.
-
are you using the 2/12 catalysts
-
i'm using the very latest Catalyst driver set..
-
I have a R7000 now, specular lighting doesnt work so shinemaps might not work either. I'll take a look when I can, Im very busy though, please be patient :)
However if you do learn anything report it in mantis.
One question does D3D fogging work for you?
-
D3D fogging?
-
In nebula missions ships should fade into the fog,
Actually dont bother, you dont have an upto date version that supports vertex fog. I might post you an exe.
-
oh, the ships do fade..

well, i dunno what's up with that.. but at least somebody's emulated the same error i had...
:)
-
huh.
time for an eye check perhaps.
really, i thought i saw spec working in at least on build.
i'll check.
edit: well i'll be damned, it doesn't work on my system after all.
R7k, PIII 800, 192MB sdram, win98SE, 20-01-04r, D3D, latest drivers AFAIK.

well, there's something for the bug-hunters to track down and kill..
-
hey, download the version of Aurora in my sig and try to load something, it uses a very similar specmapping effect.
-
iv been *****ing about this for a long time lol.
Phreak has the problem along with a couple other ppl. Im supprised this went unnoticed for so long.
It dosnt work on a radeon 9200 either.
bobs env build makes it more obvious; its almost like the whole shine code: lighing, *and* mapping, dosnt even er... happen
-
in the env, build does it seem like it's being mapped?
