Mega-cool. I'll try to get pics if I ride one. :)

The idea sounds good... but surely anyone dedicated enough to strap a bomb to themselves would be willing to make it a large enough bomb to take the bus out from some range?
-
Well, no, not really... the bombs cause damage mainly from metal shrapnel - nails and bolts and stuff - that the guy's packing around the explosives. Such items can't puncture armored vehicles, since armor needs a focused blast to penetrate it.

Good point

What about a car bomb?

it sounds like your chalengeing them to take one out

One abbreviation comes to mind: RPG.

Nah, just to make the thing impregnable.
There's always a danger of overconfidence, y'see. :)

I think its a good idea. It saves lives.
However, a dedicated individual will come up with ways around it. And I think its a safe bet that most people who are willing to be suicide bombers are what could be described as dedicated.

Well, naturally. But every steps to improve safety is positive, as long as you keep pushing for the next step. :)

Power to the people.

Car bombs are much harder to get through the security checkpoints. But even if they do, I'm not really sure if they'd be able to take out an armored vehicle. RPG's can easily, sure, yeah - that's what they're meant for. But a car bomb is just a glorified suicide bomber, and works on the same principle of shrapnel ripping up soft targets. It nothing in the way of focused blast force.
The sheer power of the explosion might knock the bus around, toss it a few meters and flip it over or something, but IMO the bus would still remain "whole", more or less.
That, of course, goes for the current line of armored buses used here as well.

Cool buses.
