In the latest build of FS2_open, I've suddenly noticed that the debris that streaks past you when you move disappears whenever you target anything and reappears whenever you turn off targetting.
Before I report this to Mantis, I wanted to know if this was supposed to be intentional (since it didn't happen with retail FS2).
As a sidenote, the debris pieces are much larger than they used to be in FS2 retail even with the default fov.
In the nebula they become EVEN larger, to the point of distraction.

Really? Could you get some screenshots to back this up and report the bug in Mantis please?

This is actually one of Nuke's images from the Environment mapping thread, so I hope he doesn;t mind me using it, but it does give an excellent example of one of the problems.
Flipside :D

I haven't got my swooh account yet so it'll be on Tripod (meaning you'll have to either use IE or rename the files).
Trinity is targetted. No debris at all. (http://chronoreverse.tripod.com/cgi-bin/nodebris.txt)
Targetting disabled, space debris reappears (http://chronoreverse.tripod.com/cgi-bin/notarget.txt)

now that i think of it i have seen this bug too

Yeup, same here. Chrono, did you Mantis this? I couldnt find it on Mantis.
Also, something I noticed. For those having this issue, try this:
Target something so the space debris goes away. Then, lookleft and you'll notice that you can see the space debris then. Odd.

also, background images are rendered OVER the space debris.
-
Well, Bobboau's resolved the disappearing debris part right after I Mantis'd it. Perhaps you should mantis that problem XD
-
yeah, it was useing the wrong rendering method for the type of data it was given
I'm actualy somewhat puzzled as to why it worked at all
-
It really wasn't working right either. The debris looks funny. In normal missions it's twice as big while in nebula missions they're 4 times as big.
Rather unnerving even.
